Default My Audi for this STI?

Hey guys,
I sold my stage 3 wrx for an audi due to how much money i dropped into my wrx & it still wasn't near an STI. I hated that i had the weak 5 speed, and i hated that i did not have the brembos, or the interior ect.....and was showing/meeting with lots of wealthy owner's and developers so i wanted an Audi.

Anyway I bought a prestine Audi and one month later landed another decent job and now have a Grand cherokee as my DD. My audi only gets driven maybe 5 days a month. Its a 2006 with only 24,000 miles. Stage 2, slammed, 19's ect....

This STI owner and i have been pondering trading cars. He has an 05 with 50,000 miles and quit a bit of performance mods.
his mods:
HKS Carbon/Titanium Catback
Invidia Bellmouth Downpipe
Grimspeed EWG Upipe
Tail 38mm Wastegate
APS Cold
APS Front Mount kit
HKS SSQ
PE 850cc injectors
Walbro Pump
wideband AFR

(This car is fully ready for a 20g turbo, which is my plan if i buy an STI. So basically he has almost all the mods I already plan on doing if i were to buy a stock STI)

My Audi

What kind of Audi do you have? An A3? A4?

Should you do it? That's highly dependent on what you want out of a car. Performance and modability is miles ahead on an STi. The STi interior is not on par with an Audi. Some STis can have disastrous engine problems, while Audis tend to have a million tiny problems and more expensive parts.
If you don't drive the car much, I'd go with an STi, as it makes a good weekend car.

That sums up trading an STi for an Audi or the other way around. One set of problems and potential failures for another. If I had the money I would go find a brand new STi so you can have the warranty.

It's all preference really, I'm sort of in the same boat as you. Currently I have a B5 S4 and I'm looking to get into the suby world. The interior and build quality are phenomenal, but I'd like a change of pace

This question is unanswerable unless we know what your Audi is. it's like saying I'm thinking about breaking up with this brunette to go out with a red head. Need a lot more info than the hair color.

Boy, lesser of 2 evils. Do you keep the Audi? Audis depreciate so fast that the faster you can unload it, the better you'll feel. The fact that you are hardly driving it probably is keeping it from constant service needs, so I guess that's a plus. If you feel you need a prestige car like that for your job, then it's just a cost of keeping the job. I have very stringent requirements on the car I have to have for my job too, so I get the restrictions.

Trading for the modded STi can also become a nightmare. Read this:

Isn't your Audi worth more than the STi?

Ditch the Audi, maybe try to get him to throw cash on top because mods don't add value. Once you hit 80-90k miles on that audi **** really starts to hit the fan. Not so much mechanically, but little electric problems here and there that get real old real fast.

Having said that, I love the way Audi's look, but cannot wait to find some 16 year old sucka to buy my car so I can get an RS

I love the audi, but to make it 300 WHP would cost around $6,000

The STI is already around 310 WHP.... and with a 20g my goal would only be 340 WHP....

I just figure if I am going to have a "weekend" car, it should probably be something with a lot of power & good handling.

My audi at my jobsite in Boulder (nice winter day & i wanted to take it out of the garage).... I'm a construction manager

Your Audi is really clean. If you going to be using as a weekend car, get the STi

....I would keep the Audi but that is simply because its what I would personally prefer at this stage in my life if given the choice. Having been there, you know both worlds so you simply need to decide what you want.

Ya, that is why i am SOO torn. I got rid of the wrx because i did not like the boxy body lines & kid race car image which lead me into my Audi. Now that i have owned the Audi for a year i miss the Raw performance...... grass is always greener on the other side i suppose

Just to have more money, I was hoping part my audi out & sell for $22,000

pick up a 05 STi for around $17...... OR I was really hoping to find a limited wrx for around $15k, but i can't seem to stumble across one.

keeping in mind i still own a grand cherokee as my DD......

….the looks never bothered me with my ’03 (never thought it was a “good looking” car to begin with) but I will admit the change in demographics in the community did as well as the lack of amenities/comfort. One thing that was nice about my ’03 was the functional familiarity I have with Subarus and their reliability (I do most of my own maintenance on my vehicles). I tinkered with the idea of keeping it around as a track car but with 3 vehicles already, I simply have no more room to store it. …..and I don’t like the idea of permanently parking cars in my driveway or in front of my house.

Anyhow, I wish you luck in your decision.
