PERRIN Tunes 08 STI with AccessPORT!!!
Here is a little teaser for you guys and gals.
This is just the start of things to come, lots more things to discover with 08 STI and the ECU. Not to mention the tuning software. This is a bone stock STI, no mods at all! Later today, we should have it stage 1 all done and ready for some road testing. We will keep this thread updated with more stage 1 results as the day goes by.

More info to follow soon. Things are safe, which is very important! When its all done, we will divulge the full (maybe not everything) results, and how we got there. What i can say is the ECU is tuned crappy! We created a map, with a few smoothing changes, and some other tricks, and we gained about 5HP, but every run was the same. Not the 15WHP swings.
More to come! |

The red line on the graph is the stock tune, but the other 10 runs were all over the place. That best represented the stock mapping.

Those are some impressive gains for just tuning. Is the turbo a VF43?

wow impressive gains for not a single mod on the car!!! cant wait to see what this thing will do with the 35r kit on it, or just stage 2 for that matter.
Jeff, are you going to be reversing the IM like some other guys have done on the new wrx's with your sti? just curious how much that mod really makes a difference on spool characteristics/ power etc. |

The intake manifold will stay right where it is. While that is a cool thing to do, it not something we can really sell. What i mean is, we are going to do things to the cars that anyone can do. Just like the 08 WRX we did. To me, on a new car, it is important to show off what can be done with keeping things reasonable. Opposite of this theory is the H6 Project, it worked, great, and it was very cool, but not very feasible for everyone to do. Its more fun to build something that is attainable. What i have planned for the STI (besides the bolt on stuff, will be something anyone can do. Fun things to come! |

I am very confused. I think the software has an error in the math.
266.5 - 225.2 = 41.3 increase in whp, but it says 34.6. The torque is right though. Very nice none the less. |

Jeff, how is this ECU compared to the 2007 STi's. How many timing tables?? I know you don’t want to disclose too much info, I am wondering is tuning the 08's is going to be challenging????
Thanks |

Did you mess with the AVCS intake/exhaust on this tune?
Can't wait to hear the details! |

That being said, the 2008 STi ECU isn't the same as the 2007. For one, having SI-Drive means it's based on a lot of new and different torque demand specific logic for boost control and other functions. I won't go so far as to say it's radically different (IMO), but it is based on a new OS revision that's several versions newer than what was used on the 2007 STi. In some cases the number of tables stayed the same, others reduced and others increased. The key though is the logic behind how the tables are utilized and when... Will it be hard? At first there will be a learning curve but I don't think most tuners will have much difficulty. PERRIN is obviously making pretty great progress already, which is very encouraging! Great work, Jeff! Cheers, Trey @ COBB |

Anyone else notice that it looks like they restored the 7K redline? Very nice.
