News The AMS Time Attack EVO “TA1” is back and ready to kick some butt!

The AMS Time Attack EVO VIII “TA1” is back and better than ever!

The car endured some serious dieting over the winter and let’s just say Jarred & Subway ain’t got nothing on us!

Justin and the rest of the dream team here at AMS have really pulled a number on the TA1 resulting in 100+ lbs of weight savings from an already light car. There are a lot of very innovative ideas being implemented on the car most of which cannot be shown, but here are some things I can show you:

Justin Wylde our Time Attack Team crew chief and fabrication manager working on the new dash...

the spaghetti and some other stuff we don't need in the car...

Master Tech Eric Jones- the man behind the spaghetti!

The prototype AMS Rear Trans Mount.

New lighter radiator support system....

Come out to see the AMS team compete at the upcoming Super Lap Battle event on April 19th during the Long Beach Grand Prix!

Awesome Rich, if we don't get to go to the Super Lap challenge we'll all be rooting for you guys!

I am still baffled as to where you found another 100lbs in that car, I think we may need to strap on a rocket to keep anywhere close to you guys.

Mike

That rear view mirror looks heavy, you'd best drill some lightening holes in it

My guess would be a power steering cooler.

Thank you for all the positive comments.

We have tested the car at one of the local tracks (Autobahn Country Club- south) over the weekend and we are extremely happy with the results. A few tweaks here and there and she should be ready to rip!

Thank you

Yes, I will be piloting the car out at Long Beach. I am really looking forward to this event. Should be a lot of fun.

Tom,
Not to sure about the Paul Gerard bringing money thing though. Paul and I have been sharing the ride as we are both pretty busy with work. Normally Paul runs the west coast stuff, and I run the eastern part of the country. Last year I couldn't make the VIR event, so Paul drove that one, and Paul is unavailable for the Long Beach event, so I be drivin.

I'd wish you luck, Mark, but I know you'll do well!

thanks Karen. No, I most likely will not be at the dc pro, or any others this year. May run the tour at Devens, but that will be it I think.
It really is time that I focus my efforts on getting into road racing. We will see how it goes.

Fixed that for you. I don't think I'll soon forget seeing you show up at Summit Point in your showroom stock Neon with no crew!

If you ever need a challenge, I'm setting my old green Camaro up for ESP, slowly, but surely, and I have a DS WRX now, and you know you're always welcome to drive.... as long as you give me some more pointers!

I guess I didn't word that really well. I really meant that I am working toward running in world challenge, or the Koni challenge series, trying to make my way into doing this stuff as more than just a hobby. I am not getting any younger, so it is time to take a shot at it. Working with AMS and driving their 500 plus whp car at time attacks has really shown me how much fun a really fast car on a road course can be. The driving is actually the easy part. The hard part is getting the sponsorship in place to make it happen, or a car owner looking for a driver. That is where I need the luck you were talking about.

Thanks for the offer on the car, I just may take you up on that at some point. Good luck this year.

I figured that's what you really meant. I'm sure after seeing Neal Sapp and Jeff Altenburg and Randy Pobst get into it.... and it's sad that you would need "luck" for the sponsors, but I do know it's true, and I definitely wish you the best in breaking into pro racing. You're certainly one of those guys who, given the chance, would show the roadracers that us autocrossers do have a clue occasionally.

the blue evo, as they've stated, is a customers car! not their new car.
