Default Why so many people are selling unichip these days?

It seems like some people are experiencing problems with the unichip installed. What sort of problem people are having and is TXS doing anything about it? I'm reluctant to spend $700 for a chip until all new generation unichip comes out

I can speak for several TXS unichip users in my area-the unichip works very well. My ride is very smooth. The unichip (any tuner i.e. Vishnu, Cobb, TXS) works well for most people, otherwise people wouldn't be buying them and sticking with them. There are some horror stories on the boards. Unfortunately it is often the case that the people that have bad experiences are often the most vocal.

As far as I know, there are only a few "common" complaints.

The above tuners have had many positive customer service reviews on this board. If you were totally dissatisfied, I think any of the tuners would either replace the product or refund your $. I read a post where one of the guys at TXS offered to do just that. They had sent the guy a new unichip and he still wasn't happy. That may have had a legitimate beef, but with any product or service, there will always be a few customers who are too picky and cannot be satisfied.

Just my $.02

Well, the only reason I'd sell the chip IF I HAD one would be because I'm going to Yoshio who's half close to my location and get it reflashed to specs. But since I don't have one, I can go to him and pay much less than an actual chip!!

The Unichip is a piggyback chip and I believe that most people that are selling them just want more control over the ECU and are moving to replace their ECU's with units such as a TECIII, Link, etc. I don't plan on needing such tunability and am planning on just getting a Unichip. If you want to just set it and forget it, then get a Unichip. If you want to be able to constantly tune your ECU to get the best performance possible and have the most control, then get a TECIII or something similar.

I suspect most of them are selling b/c they are privy to the info on the new turboxs product which will render thier unichips obsolite - - I think the price will tank even lower use if the newe item actaully works

It would be great if we could turn this into another " 'Conspiracy Theories of the World' by Al" thread...

i would also guess it has to do with the new product coming out very soon that is supposed to enhance the vehicles timing greatly.
