I just got to check out and sit in a 2013 Legacy 3.6R Limited with Eye Sight, Nav and everything. O.M.G. The little display on the gauge that flashes pictures of the Legacy at you after you open the door is freakin' AWESOME! It's the little things that add up.

I would love to take the new Legacy for a test drive.

Oh yeah, new, aggressive fascia is SEXY, very WRX-esque, and the new headlights are DEFINITELY using black-housing. Very hot stuff.

It makes me sad to think what would've happened if the GT had received these improvement for just ONE more year AND have been allowed to be sold on the lots.

Improved gear ratio and suspension is all that car really needed. It was definitely a consideration along with the WRX and STI back in 2010. Just too heavy for my taste, but I would've enjoyed the more comfortable seating and uniqueness.

She's purdy, huh? I'm thinking Venetian Red w/ taupe interior though.
I've never had a chance to drive a 3.6R though, so a test drive is in order!

The 2013s do look nicer, save one thing. I am not at all a fan of new 17" alloys. They actually photograph better than they look live.

Agreed, up close they're nothing to write home about, but other than the 2008 Forester Sports XT, 2004+ STI (minus 2012 Base model sedan) and 2011+ WRX wheels, Subaru hasn't made wheels that have been noteworthy in the U.S.

Even the new BRZ wheels fall short of exceptional. Not quite sure how they did that, but whatever.

Wishes for the next Legacy:

Keep the hard plastic dash - I had to install a boost gauge pod to cover the cracks because the soft touch one on my 2005 Legacy is peeling like a banana

Delete the damn electronic parking brake.

This doesn't have a prayer against the 2013 Accord, Mazda6 or Fusion except for those who need AWD or unless they start clearing the 2.5i's out with a price starting with the number 1.

We just got our 2013 Outback last night. Got the deep indigo pearl, Limited, everything except Eyesight (it was kinda overkill, and not worth the money to us). We put 70 miles on it just last night.

Sounds fine to me, except for the fake carbon fiber trim.

Looked good in the GT. As did the silver stitching even though it was on leather instead of this cloth.

Aren't people who need AWD the target market for the Legacy anyway? It already start cheaper than a Accord, Fusion, or a Camry AND includes AWD on every model. Its a value buy for an AWD vehicle, nothing a car trying to compete with slightly more expensive cars that don't have AWD but can offer a much better interior.

And up until this year, was getting the same city mpg as most of those and better than some. The highway mpg of those other ones wasn't that much more either. Not for the benefit......benefit I say, Not NEED, of AWD.

I wonder if there's any chance of the 2.0DIT from the new Forester making it to the Outback for MY2014. While I'm dreaming, forget the outback, and put it in a Legacy wagon GT instead.

Probably not for the 2014 Model as Subaru wouldn't want to interfere with Forester sales. The 2.0 DIT could find its way into the 2015 Legacy and Outback models maybe replacing the H6 since the 2.0 DIT generates similar power but would yield better mpg.

If only Subaru would make a real Legacy GT again. All my car buying problems and decisions would go away. I have not driven the 3.6R, but I hate the lack of a manual transmission, and a plain auto simply will not do.

Just not my thing. No deal breaker on an otherwise nice little package (depending on price), but maybe it'd annoy me enough to replace it with fake wood at some point. This reminds of the Special Edition trims (like mine) that Subaru does once in a while near the end of Legacy model runs, so I assume it'll be a very good value.

I wonder what the 18" wheels look like. I hope Subaru will use the new wheel design seen in the JDM Legacy DITs and Chinese market Legacy "Outback" sedans.

Or Subaru could be using the Legacy Sport as a means to clear out their inventories of old 18" 2012 Legacy GT wheels, trim etc.

A few more new 2013 Legacy/Outback tidbits unworthy of their own threads, also from cars101:
Quote:
11/10 Brilliant Brown Pearl color no longer available to factory order on Outbacks. It was a new color this year and only available on the 2013 2.5 and 3.6 Outback Limited with the Special Appearance Package. Initially it was only going to an option through August but it continued to be an available to order through early November. Its no longer listed as an option on new orders which means the Special Appearance Package can now only be ordered in white or black. There are still Brilliant Brown Special Appearance Package Outbacks for sale on lots however, and some more are coming in, but if you want a Brilliant Brown colored Special Appearance Package Limited, now is the time to look for best selection and price.

11/9/12 Option packages updated to include new Aha radio/phone/internet integration available early 2013. Aha is only available with Navigation packages #18 (Nav, moonroof, aha), #28 (nav moonroof, eyesight, aha), and #35 (Special Appearance package with nav, moonroof, aha). Available early 2013.
