Default Turbo and other mod suggestions for my current setup.

My current engine modifications are:

-Element / Hydra stand-alone with o2 sensor
-Wal 255 fuel Pump
-Perrin 816cc Injectors
-Perrin dp
-Espilir JGT500
-Bigger tmic from TurboXs
-K&N Typhoon

The car has about 50k on and I have decided to start doing some more work on it. I want to upgrade the turbo (before I had been eyeing up the fp green)and perhaps do a few other modifications to it. My winter past time is working on cars and as the weather gets colder my itch grows. I don't want the car to be a drag strip only beast, but I would like to increase it's straight line capabilities. I do all the work myself so I was hoping for some suggestions on a nice solid turbo and maybe some other things that I can do in conjunction with that. I need to send the element/hydra back to phil to fix a few issues and I figured it would be a good time to put in a new turbo and have him put the new maps on the stand alone.

The car puffs a bit of smoke under hard acceleration, which I am assuming is from running a bit rich, and normally burns around a quart to quart and a half between oil changes (which I have been told is normal).

It has been a while since I have been motivated to work on the car, so I figured I should take advantage of it now. I was thinking about doing some of the following things as well:
new spark plugs
new hoses that connect the turbo, the tmic, and the manifold

So suggestions please, turbo, any other mods that would go along well (within reason )and any other thing that would be smart for me to do while I have it garaged. I am planning on keeping the block stock at least for now. I guess I am looking to make more of a beast of a daily driver. I have been out of the mod loop for a while though, so I don't really know what new recommendations people might have. Thanks for any input.

Samuel

If you aren't just looking into power mods, get an ALK. I love the difference it made on my WRX.

Turbo choice would really depend on your goals for power on the car. Depending on those goals there are almost unlimited options available, as an example, in our lineup, you could choose from about 9 different turbos, all having different spoolup and power charactaristics.

IMO a rotated 30R is a killer DD turbo, great spool and a very strong top end.. Plus it looks better

whats wrong with the green?....great mix between great power and it's within a useable powerband. It will also be alright with your txs tmic

you can also get some headers....and an up pipe

Well, actually I don't know really, haha. When I first bought the car I was all about it, but I went through a messy divorce and have been totally out of the loop for about a year. So I don't have any idea about new mods, what people are currently having success with, ect. Sorry for making it difficult .

Right now the car is garaged because I need to put new brakes and tires on it, fix a wicked rear strut rattle, and the above mentioned need to send the stand alone back to Phil. My goals aren't to have the fastest STi around, but I would like to be making more power. Not enough to push the limits of the engine block, but enough to make me sink farther back in the seat when I hit the gas and scare myself again .

The car is a daily driver, with occasional drag strip time in the summer. So I want to work on it as much as I can over the winter, get myself out of this funk I am in, and have fun at the track next spring/summer noticing the improvements.

Maybe/probably nothing, I am just silly when it comes to researching before I actually do the work, I like to know all my options.
