It's an interesting point you have there - We ran 7,400 limit with the Hydra, and when I switched to the I-speed flash for STX it was changed to 7,200. I put approx 30k street miles, hundreds and hundreds of autocross runs, and probably 2k miles of track days on my RS hitting that limiter all the time... The next owner did find a slightly leaking valve seal a while after he got the car, but other than that, it did fine. I think the bigger concern is oiling - but on an autocross course, with short bursts of revs that high I don't think it is that big of a deal.

Getting back on topic..... Pat did a great job of getting into the trophies last year in Topeka, while Gil and his brother would've been there too had they not broken a strut. I'd like to think that if I woulda softened the car up and actually drove, I coulda been in the hunt. We definately showed the potential. Now that the 275-35-15 is here, some of the e30's will no doubt be going to them as well....maybe some of the e36 drivers too. What is it going to take to keep the momentum up for us?
We have enough tire for grip and we're similar in weight. Power wise (to the ground) we're down a good deal and transitioning prowess leaves a bit to be desired compared to the heavy hitters. We have a link ECU ready to install and tune to try and take advantage of timing control to maximize what we can put to the ground but I'd really like to get the car to handle better still. I have sketched out ideas for what a Maserati Biturbo project could look like for DSP. Obviously, a very strange and specialized machine, but do-able for someone with Italian car background. A couple items to note:
-All Biturbos are on the same line. Find an early 2.5L Carb car and transplant the 2.8L fuel injected engine. 225hp with fairly mild boost stock. With race gas, water injection, and exhaust/manifold work, you would easily be above the output of most other DSP machines in both HP and TQ. Great for fast west coast events, perhaps total overkill for Topeka. -A race ready weight of 2400-2500 pounds would be doable. Early cars were in the 2600 range, and the heavier later cars were in the mid 2700 range. Minus AC, light exhaust, light battery, light seats etc. -the 275-15 Hoosier would fit easy -think of all the contigency you could earn???? On another Italian car note, now that Nationals is on low-grip asphalt, and generally tighter courses, I've wondered what Hoeschler's X1/9 could do again. Especially considering that since he raced, the 1300 and 1500 cars have been grouped together now. There is about 100-150 pounds that could be dropped with heavy bumpers and trim. Chris H. |

Spoiler... I redid it a bit to make it adjustable. I need to get some adjustable spoiler struts and then I'll try it out again.

BTW, I tried my 15's on a WRX the other weekend and they didn't fit over the calipers. They were rubbing the shell. It they only had a few MM's

You'd need the 4 pots or the RS brakes on the WRX to fit the 15"s...which is why I am putting 4 pots on my WRX.
