08 WRX intake manifold/intercooler question.
Does anyone know at what psi the intake manifold and intercooler go pop on an 08 WRX? I assume the intercooler would go first. By then you should have an upgraded one anyways. Lol. Nonetheless, anyone know? And what about the BOV? Looks way more prone to leaks than the metal ones.

mine car is tuned for 18 psi. When i was having problems with it i once hit 22 psi and i was ok. But that was only for a second or two. I have a turbo XS HYB BOV on mine. It is not needed nor is the intake but it sounds so good. I bought the AVO intake from Rallitek cause they will send you a free tune with it for your AP. The stock BOV goes up to i think 20-21 psi. Its all about what you like.

Thanks 08SubieWRX.
This was of a question of the capability of the "plastic" intake manifold and "cheese ball" euro styled, crimped on intercooler end tanks more than the bov. I know (from experience on euro cars) that the plastic bov's do not hold well at higher pressures than they were intented for. I found my answers on legacygt.com. Those kats have been dealing with this for some time now. About 18psi, and the intercooler to end tank crimps will start to separate. And FWIW. I've been playing with subi's just as long as you Unabomber. That would have been 2001 with a 2000 RS,custom turbo kit and Link management. What a pain in the A*#. Lol. So the harsh reply is not needed. It was a serious question. If you can show me a post that states that the intake manifold will explode at XX boost then that would be great. And I will say "damn, should've read the newbie section. Thanks in advance. |
