Default Took the BECA on a Texas vacation (photos) and idea for Meet and Drive.

I took the family and some friends on a little Texas Hill Country vacation. I ended up finding some obscure roads that I can't wait to get back to in the WRX.

We went to SeaWorld and bought a behind the scenes tour for $70+$40 for the cost of the ticket. It lasted about 4 hours, we were first in the park by a few hours and did some really cool things. We also got a pass for each of us that allowed us to not have to wait in ride lines. We could go through the exit of the ride and we would ride next. They allowed us to do this over 2 days as I asked if they would extend it. I found them to be a class company and park.

Me and the Kiddo

Feeding Dolphins

Behind the scenes Whale Tank

The passes gave us front row VIP seating for shows. This is not a zoomed in photo.

The reason I'm pro SeaWorld, we had friends with us and they did not register for the Dinner With Shamu. It's sold out 45 days in advance and after 48 hours of no's, they called me while in the park and said they would help us. My daughters 2 friends were allowed to join us and SeaWorld did it at no charge. It was extra effort and it was appreciated.

The next day we did the swim with the Beluga Whales.

The next day we headed for the Lake House @ Canyon Lake, the Beca is easy to drive and we got 23.1mpg

The eating and crapping machines are everywhere and you can go hunting with a slice of bread and a hammer.

A new set of friends came in and we headed out to Enchanted Rock. It has to be the best drive I have taken in Texas.

452 feet to the summit.

We found a lizard and you would have thought they saw Elvis.

This was a high light of the trip. A group of about 20 teen-agers would not come down this section but myself, a friend and our kids made it down. It was a big deal for the little kids.

From there we headed to Pedernales Falls, it was about an hours drive.

I did save a women from drowning right about here. The water was swift and she could not swim. She was walking in a calm area and slipped and was swept away. I was in the right place at the right time.

Yesterday we rented a Ski Deck boat and spent the day on Canyon Lake.

I think all the kids are still asleep, did I mention I liked the TriBECA?

The reason I'm posting this is I think a day driving these roads with the TXIC crowd would be cool. We could meet in New Braunfels, some would camp on the river, others could get a hotel, I would camp it. Drive in on Friday or early Saturday morning. We would leave out at 10:00am Saturday and head through the backroads to Bandera, over to Kerrville on Junction HWY 16, over to Ingram and then to Fredricksburg/Enchanted Rock for lunch on the summit. From there head to Pedernales Falls or Hamilton Pools State Park and back to New Braunfels to party into the night. Sunday, drive home. It's an idea for October 21st.

Great photos, seems like you had a great time with the family (I am very jealous of you/your family!) Wish i still lived in San Antonio, but im out in Shreveport, LA now. I'd love to make it out for a SA road trip though, its only about 6-7 hours back there.

I don't have a wife nor gf at the time being which could change. If more information comes about, I would be very interested in camping to get some guitar time in.

Those pics are awesome! I love Sea World.

I miss heading out to Fredricksberg. I am from Austin and a bunch of us use to go out to Enchanted Rock for the day. Did you stop in Johnson City and grab some peaches?

What an AWESOME vacation, Phooey! My family and I went to F'burg last fall, driving down Hwy 281, thru Lampasas, Llano, and by Enchanted Rock into Fredericksburg. I was thinking the whole time how much more fun the drive would have been in the Subie.

Count me in for the drive in October.

I noticed that all most all the whale trainers were ladies and they had had large breastestsses. Actually, my wife pointed out what I noticed in 17 seconds.

I was thinking the same thing, my car would have been a blast and I realized, I must get it back up there. When 1 of the kids made a loud announcement that she had to pee, I upped the speed a bit more over the last 18 miles with the moms approval. Nothing crazy but a bit spirited and that is when I realized just how nice of an SUV the BECA really was. We took the back way into the the park, that drive was much nicer than the direct route from F'sburg.

I have a house about 8 miles from there and will choose a site carefully. A place we can have our cars close and the water/cliff view on the other side.

I'd love to head down for the camp/cruise weekend, but if you do it the weekend of 10/21 I wouldn't be able to make it....I'm headed to Kansas City for the Tech-Missouri game.

I was willing to go by myself, camp, drive and camp again so this will be great. I will get started on it and post a new thread in a few days after I get some better details.
