That's exactly what I've been trying to articulate in this thread. To no avail, unfortunately.
Especially this below:

Now only 1-2% of cars being purchased have manuals.
yup.

I'd say 90s is when the crossover really happened as far as capability.

as soon as computer controls took over from valve bodies and kickdown wasn't actuated by a cable connected to the throttle.

when they started using the ECU to control all that crap it was the beginning of the end for the manual.

and with gas mileage requirements that was the final nail.

as I said earlier in this thread, there are exactly 2 cars I can think of that are designed for the manual first, the GR Corolla and the Civic Type R. that's it.

Why don't you ask your source how long till manuals are gone at Subaru...

I would never buy a single vehicle in the current Subaru lineup. Even if they made an EV STi, I wouldn't buy that. I don't need a $40,000 car to drive back and forth to work. People are getting ridiculous with their daily drivers and car payments. I honestly would sell my car and just taking a taxi or uber everywhere rather than make payments on a $40,000 car that is used mainly to get to work. **** that.

Dang....you STILL mad bro? They may have a lotion for that.

Asking someone if they are mad is so mid-2000's.

I actually would still consider a WRX if the dealers would take 3k off the MSRP. It's hard finding one without a ton of stupid add-ons that jack up the price unnecessarily. The one I looked at was pushing 38k and was only a premium. The dealer wouldn't take anything off the sticker. I got ~2k off my VA when I bought it in 2020.

They're good cars for 30k. For 40k, not so much.

I don’t know about 3k off, but many dealers will order you one for sticker without the extra accessories that you don’t want. Some manufacturers like toyota aren’t even doing that anymore. You have to take whatever they feel like building with whatever accessories they feel like adding.

Quick works Subaru Braintree Massachusetts. You're a New Yorker like me, but they will sell to you if I put in a good word ...They are about 2 hours and 45 minutes away from Albany.

$4,500 off of premiums and limiteds, $4,000 off of base models. No stupid add-ons or dealer markups whatsoever, and they are more generous than other dealers with trade-in offers.

If you were quoting me, I wouldn't be able to tell you when all the manuals are gone at Subaru, all I know is, there's only two models of Subaru that still has one, and they happen to be the least profitable cars out of the bunch. Yikees

2023 manual Subarus:

-Crosstrek
-Impreza
-WRX
-BRZ

2024 manual Subarus:

-WRX
-BRZ

Edited to add the BRZ

No worries.... when I didn't hear back from you about possibly buying your WRX, I went and bought a new one from them.

Good guys over there, stripped down operation. They don't even have finance guys over there, the salesmen do everything from top to bottom. And they don't pressure you whatsoever with extended warranty plans or Scotchgard seat protector nonsense.

Thanks, forgot one. Perhaps it's because of the Toyota affiliation that I forgot about the BRZ.

To sum it up, Subaru went from four cars that you can get a manual transmission to two cars, in one year.

I just noticed the message today!

I'm probably going to hang onto mine for a while. For how little I drive I really don't need to be buying anything. I got mine from Goldstein, they were good and didn't have any markups or other BS. The finance bro tried selling me add-ons but I told him I wasn't interested and he went away. Overall a very good dealer experience, they even zip tied the front plate on rather than drilling into the bumper which I appreciated.

Goldstein is good. If I ever need warranty work done, I go to them. And yeah, the annoying thing about quirk works was that they installed the front license plate bracket without asking me.

Meh, I just left it alone. Really hard to see the holes. And one of those aftermarket covers won't work, because the bracket holes are not in line with typical license plate holes.

I was going to use little plugs, but figured two tiny holes are better than little plastic bumps.

I ended up buying a plate mount on Amazon that fit the factory bumper holes. I'd imagine they make one for the VB too.

I love license plate delete covers. Thankfully my BRZ wasn't drilled and I ziptied my front plate for years. My Impreza was drilled, but I have a new bumper ready to install that doesn't have holes. And there isn't a bump where a plate would go either.

Quirk is a cool place. Had my Impreza serviced there. +1 for Quirk.

I went with a plate relocater/tow hook mount kit from Amazon ($21). I thought it was the required first mod when you buy a WRX

I don't really like those delete plate covers, the less cluttered the better, in my opinion.

On my 2017 VA, I did 3/8" hole plugs that I color matched with some touch-up paint. Subiemods sells those little things for $20. I solved it for $4, thanks to home Depot. For some reason on this car, they were more obvious, probably because my VA was silver and my VB is red.

Yeah, quirk works is a Good dealership. If I didn't live 3 hours away, they would be my go-to for warranty work.

Bolded should be able to be optioned on all WRX trims (the full DCCD, too). This would fix MUCH of what is lacking with the VB. The way the current model's trim levels are positioned, and the available options, is asinine. Subaru nuked the STI and forced buyers to turn to the aftermarket to claw their way back.

"Executive Chef Nick Dixon of Capo Restaurant in Boston raves about the classic all-beef, Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese. "I don't know what it is but it's the greatest sandwich in the world!" he says. "I don't even like to get any sides with it because the burger is absolutely perfect just the way it is. It always comes out so consistent and perfectly seasoned. I can always count on this sandwich, it never lets me down," says Dixon. We'd still say if it's been a tough day that you should splurge for those fries!"

This thread is so much fun, rofl.
