Default 08 2.5i and 08 Sti Suspension

I've done some research and found that the 2.5i and wrx suspension are compatible. But I cannot find wither or not the Sti's springs/struts are interchangable.

Any input?

Scott

The car's are so new I'm not sure anyone has tried the swap yet. As of right now this is an unknown quantity, and unless you have the cash to blow on being the guinea pig, and the suspension knowledge and mechanical aptitude to go it on your own, I'd say pass.

springs will be a direct swap

not 100% on the struts.

Even if they bolt up the difference in track width between the STi and the 2.5i/WRX is a concern. This is provided the mounting points are the same. They may have moved them outward on the STi, but we still have yet to measure both and compare.

if they did move them outward to keep the motion ratio between the two cars the same then putting an STi setup on the non-sti will yield an STi ride (given equal or very close weight and distribution).

If they did not move them, and the motion ratio is different then while the ride and handling may be an acceptable upgrade it will not be the same as the STi.

We have not had a chance to get an 08 WRX or 2.5i into the shop to compare the two. In fact, if anyone in the cincy area would be willing to do this we, and the community at large would appreciate it.

edit: Tony just confirmed to me that they will not just bolt up due to differences in front knuckle.

Edit:

The STI suspension will not bolt up as the fronts are different. The wrx uses Legacy knuckles that have a different clevis width and different bolt spacing.

I have done it. The rears match up perfectly. The fronts required some modification and of course an alignment right after. Basically, the hole at the bottom where the bolts go through, one matches up the other is too high. I drilled a hole a little lower (not sure if I would reccommend but ive been on mine for over a year now with no problems) I'd say worth it if you can get them cheap like I did.

How expensive is the wrx suspension to purchase and have put in on a 2.5i?

I'm sorry don't mean to hijack this thread, but need to reply to post my own.

Looking for advice on replacing the whole knuckle on my 08 impreza after failing to remove my hub assembly (tried air hammers, torches, sledge hammers, etc) Any advice?
