Hey I have a question for you all. I'm going to be moving from southern california to denver this June. Being unfamiliar with snowy conditions. Would you guys recommend I raise my car back to a stockish height? I've also always ran summer tires all year round for my subaru, but during winters in denver do i need winter tires or would all season tires be alright. Thanks guys!

I have about 4.5 inches of clearance for my front bumper, I'm currently lowered on coilovers

I wouldn't say you need to go back up to stock height. However, I'd recommend getting the front above 5" if you want to keep your lip in tact.

The bottom of my front lip sits a little more than 6" off the ground and I still seem to scrape it while pulling in/out of parking lots around the Denver metro area. However, I've never run into an issue with an ice chunk being big enough to do damage at the current height.

As for tires... If you want to drive your car in the winter (Which you should. It is a Subaru, after all) then I absolutely recommend buying a dedicated set of winter tires. It's not uncommon for us to get a foot or more of snow in a single storm and we get multiple storms throughout the winter. The mountain areas get even more snow.

But that's the beauty of these cars. Snow tires, paired with AWD, make these cars absolute beasts in the snow. I've managed to safely navigate in and out of high snow areas with ease while big trucks/SUVs around me were getting stuck left and right.

Ah yes, I am familiar with that area as I used to live out there years ago.

My car is not particularly low, but with my lip, I have to be careful in some spots around here. I live in the mountains in Golden and don't use my Subaru for winter. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD that I use for daily duties. Definitely recommend snow tires as well.

Thanks man. I'll make sure to raise my car a bit. I'm definitely going to be driving around winter I'll make sure to look for a nice set of used winter wheels/tire when I get there then.

I can also vouch for a second set. Absolutely worth it if you can manage. An awesome set of snows and you can slay just about any snowstorm out here. Looks us up on FB as well.

Default The Official Colorado/Denver thread

I'm back in the game and probably the youngest here by the sounds of it, 28. I just replaced my 05 wrx with a newer and higher mileage wrx haha
2009 white wrx with 145k
Anyway I'm by southlands and would always be down for a meet and greet plus maybe a cruise?

Also what is the local fb page?

Welcome to the group gs300cky! Do a search for Rocky Mountains Impreza Club. The cover pic is a white blob eye. It is a closed group so you'll have to request access.

Default 2017 WRX trunk swap?

Hi,

I have an 2017 WRX WR Blue with lip trunk that I am looking to swap for a 2017 STI WR Blue with the wing. I'm in the Denver area. Hit me up if interested!

Thanks!

Hello! Bought this car after about 10 years away from the Subaru world last July. Trying to share my mod money and time with my Miata that I track. I just found this thread and sent a request to the RMIC FB group.

Nice! I was in the white WRX, pulling out of the parking lot as you were pulling in. Just commented on your photo in the FB group.

Welcome!
