I'm taking the car to a local Subaru performance shop to have a proper boost and exhaust leak test. I don't think there are any leaks but I want to make sure. Our 93 oct fuel is as good as it gets round here other than $10 per gallon race fuel.

Went to MR Performance in Westbury NY (Long Island) today for a boost leak test. It was my first time there, excellent crew, cool shop. No boost leak was found, very happy about that, found my new favorite local Subaru performance shop.

*sigh* it's been quite a while since I needed to post in here. I have no where to start.

Morning commute as always. started up the car and let it idle for a little bit and everything seemed normal. I get about 3-5 miles away or so from the house and while waiting for the traffic light to change to go on to the freeway I notice the idle sounds weird and is starting to climb when i'm out of gear and CEL is on. I pull over and turn it off and restart it and still sounds ****ed up like an exhaust leak. I have no other alternative than to drive back home. Pulled up RR on my laptop and pull these codes =\

P0102
P0113

I think i got these two because i pull the MAF connector to see if idle changed. it did a little

P0335
P0340
P0562
P1507

never ever got these codes before

Thanks for the reply. ****. Why would it just die and how do I know which one it is? Are the JDM versions different?

you can check the cam position sensors through RR by logging the VVT advance. And yes the JDM sensors are different. IAP carries them if yours are dead.

Thanks! What am I looking for when I look at that log? I'm at work right now so I cannot really look it over until I get home later on today. I plan to reset the ECU and try to start it again and see which codes pop up.

I have already been on their website looking it over. Thanks again

Its been a while since i logged, my laptop died a while ago but if i recall you need the engine to come up to temperature and select the vvt banks you can see them advance. IIRC if both advance more than 10* when driving they are good. Otherwise its just straight up oil pressure adjusting the cams slightly.

The engine idle is weird though. Would that cause it?

Ok finally home from work. Cars cold. Hooked up the tablet and reset the ECU. started the car and no CEL. Tried to get it to go to normal operating temp and idle. It hung around 1100-1250 and then finally threw P1507.

I'm not running coolant lines to the throttle body and have changed out the gasket many many years ago along with cleaning the whole assembly. Am I seeing an IACV issue?

EDIT: also, anyone know where I can get replacement IACV connectors on the engine harness? I tried to remove the connector and the clip broke.

You can always just zip tie the connector together for now until / if you find the new ones

Cars running "normal" again after cleaning the mostly clean IACV and replacing the gasket with a spare I've had for a while. I still do need the IACV connector though but the zip tie is holding it in. Idles back to normal and revs fine now. Maybe because the IACV gasket was stretched out slightly that while I was driving it triggered the various codes I got. Hmm. Thanks for the help guys.

This question has been asked before.

I believe the answer was you won't be able to find new ones available by themselves. You will have to buy an engine harness and scavenge the connectors from the harness you buy.

So, look for a used harness but get pictures of the connectors before you buy

Thanks. I've come to that realization

UGH! It's back. Idk if it's the IACV being faulty or something else. Ran the car for a short distance (not even a mile) after full warm up. No CEL. car idle hangs around 800RPM. but after coming to a stop RPM climbs before trying to go down which isn't normal. Throws a CEL then when it goes down again clears. ****. P1507

Did a reset on the ECU. Engine idle at about 1550 for about 10 minutes before trying to go down. Hanging at around 1000 and isn't going down. No CEL just yet.

IACV is clean. Connector is connected via zip tie. Gasket was replaced with a spare. I wonder if it's not sealing

EDIT: replaced gasket with 3M sealant since the gasket stretched a little bit. Still not running right. Must he the IACV =\ might have to replace it.

Sounds like you are going to have to replace the iacv, I've had 2 go bad on me exactly the way you are describing. The one on my car is starting to act up if I sit in traffic, the warmer the day is the faster it starts to misbehave. I'll be replacing it soon.

Thanks. Sigh. I have another spare on the side but don't have a gasket to use which could be the culprit and it's squeaky clean inside.

I'll go pick up a cheap one that comes with a gasket just in case. I do want to buy a Subaru one but they're pretty expensive.

You must have a brand new gasket anytime you remove the iacv screws, the gaskets stretch the first time it takes heat. Both my JDM STi motors had the iacv go bad soon after first starting them. It's a $300 part at the dealer, ouch.

It may not be the chamber, but the electronic connection. Either way, sounds like you need to replace the IACV an gasket.

Don't buy a cheap one. You'll just be replacing that in short order. There is a reason why a $300 OEM part can be had for ~$60 from someone else, allegedly a "genuine" part.

It may not be much, but you can get the part slightly cheaper if you buy from a on-line Subaru Parts Dept.

https://www.ebay.com/p/?iid=141824151879&&&chn=ps

$235 from SubaruPartsOnline

The EJ207 v7 and the 2002WRX share a lot of parts, so this would be a direct swap

I agree. I just don't want to spend the $300 if I don't need to.

EDIT: just ordered the gasket and IACV from subaru. I think I found a source for an IACV connector. If it works I'll post in here with where I got it and their part number. fingers crossed!

Default EJ207 Owners?

so my brand new replacement engine harness arrived from IAP along with the replacement connector i found online showed up today.

From a visual it looks like a good match and a possible replacement for the IACV connector. I will check fitment...etc. when i get home later on tonight.
