Hmm good to know - appreciate your insight. This time around i do plan to have a clear mask installed to keep down the chips but something with inevitable happen... How does WRB hold up to swirls in the clear-coat?

Black being the worst, silver the easiest to maintain. White is different. It doesnt show swirl marks as darker colors do, but it shows any type of contamination. Red dots, black dots, white turning yellowish, etc.

I find WRB on the light side. Even my LBP has been very good in terms of hiding swirls.
Thanks vapore0n and agree that black is a real pain to keep nice although i do like it on those rare clean occasions. This will be my first Subaru so i've been leaning WRB just to get that classic Subaru look but i also like white's ability to make accents pop a little more (and it looks good with dark wheels and window tint to me anyhow).

Subaru Canada finally announced details on the 2018 STI trims and pricing:
https://www.subaru.ca/WebPage.aspx?W...ArticleID=9544

The Sport Tech seems the obvious trim to get with the added Recaros, push button start, nav, and Harman Kardon speakers.

It's also worth noting that the base trim will come with 18" wheels, which proves that there will be no problem downsizing the wheels with the new 6-piston brakes. Great news for anyone looking to run winter tires (or for the people who keep complaining about the "oversized wheels").

Yup, checked with SOA yesterday and my model code is "JUV" since I ordered a 2018 WRB WRX STi Limited with the Wing.

Also, I really want to powdercoat my 19" rims gold when I pick up my 2018 WRB STi Limited, so does anyone know any good places in the Bay Area to do this? Has anyone done this via a dealer or a shop that you can recommend?

+1 I want 17s for the winter. Can't wait to see what fits.

The spare is T135/70 D18. Any idea what the rim dimensions would be (besides 18")?

Damn! When did you put your order in? All LBP orders I've seen up to this point have estimates of late Aug/early Sept.

Certainly doesn't seem "obvious" to me. I will be looking at the base model. I don't really care about infotainment and don't want a sunroof and could take or leave the big wang, so for $7000 less I can buy a base and another set of wider 18" wheels and sticky rubber for autocross/track and a much more bolstered drivers seat than the Recaros that come on the Sport-Tech and still pocket about $1500 for future suspension stuff. Also makes for the lightest version of the car, which is a bonus to me.

To each his own; the "obvious" choice for me is the base, but I can understand different people with different priorities would prefer a different trim. Curious to see what the base wheels will be though, guessing they are the wheels off the outgoing '17's.

"Obvious" is the Base model. It's how everyone judges the overall value of a vehicle. Everything else is just extra. Generally in the United States people buy the Premium trims because for a little more you typically get a lot of creature comforts that many feel should almost be standard, like fog lights or All-weather Package. Especially for vehicles that are meant to inspire confidence in inclement weather, those two features are huge wants.

Just got my vin. I'm located in Toronto Canada. Does that mean they've already built the car and it's going to be shipped soon? Or does that mean they're starting to build it?

Oh an I ordered a 18 red sti. Sport tech - I guess with u usabros it's a premium?

Not an STI, but if you look at the Subaru.com exterior gallery there's a DGM WRX from the side.

Looking forward to seeing a LBP STI since I have one on order. Current ETA is 8/15, but I'm hoping for sooner.

Someone brought up the lack of reviews out there a while ago and still there are no reviews. That's surprising that there's none out still. Any ideas on why?

Subaru Canada brought out some 2018 WRX and asked some auto journalists to review. They are already out in bits and pieces on reddit but complete review will be out on Monday or Tuesday.

The base model is very good if you're mainly interested in the performance aspects of the car, but the Sport is quite useless. Basically you're paying $2300 to get a sunroof and a few other very minor features.
However, the Sport Tech is the only way to go if you want to get the most out of the STI as a good all-around car. As I said, I'm commenting on the Canadian trims. As far as I can see the Recaros and push button start are not an option for the lower trim which is why I find the choice "obvious".

That's all good, but most people want reasonably comfortable seats with air bags. In the end it really depends on how you're looking to use the car.

Whoa where did those come from? Obviously they aren't an option on our US version right? Must know...

Unless it's just a Photoshop.
