Bumping an Old thread. But I tried installing this part (2018 WRX) and after 2 days of this I'm giving up. I loosened the u joint bolts like the instructions but I just can't get the 2 pieces together enough for the short bolt. I ended up stripping the stock bolt hex head i was putting so much force on it.

I watched some installation videos and it seems like my dampeners don't lay flat like others do.

Any other suggestions or tips for install? Do you sell replacement hardware?

Hey!

So we haven't had confirmed fitment for your car but as long as the dampener measure this it should work!

If you do confirm this measurements then I would recommend putting some grease where the lock down slides into, this normally works!

Yes you can get the hardware, just give us a call!

Please let me know if this does or does not work.

Ah, I saw it listed as 2015+ and decided to buy. I'll try to measure later. It's a tough thing to measure in that short space. Does this U joint look correct? Here's is the closest I was able to get them.

Do I need to spin the U joint in a certain orientation? I tried a few different ways but nothing worked out, even with a hex bolt

Yes you would spin it tell you get it in the right spot for install.
After i saw this i went and tested this on our 2018 and i got it to work!
So it is now a confirmed fitment, try lubing it up to make it slide easier.

Ok thank you, there is hope!. My car is still all apart on jack stands for a bunch of mods so I'll try again.

How do I know what the best angle for the U joint is? It never really seems "straight" to me like in your photos removed from the car.

I know this is an old thread but thought Id chime in for anyone looking for help. Did this install tonight, and noticed a step that might be helpful in the directions. Turn the steering wheel to the point that gives you the best access to the two 12mm bolts you have to loosen, THEN turn it again to the best angle to install the unit that gives you the best access to tighten the Allen bolt. Repeat step when tightening the 12mm bolt when youre finished.

Can somebody confirm that this will NOT fit an '02 Impreza?

I want one, but not if it doesn't fit...

If the dampener has this measurement then it should work!
