Idk
Ive always been looking for just an aftermarket Bov or 50/50 but never knew if it was worth it just to have for minor upgrade in preformance if it really even matters. for the longest time ive been looking at synapse syncronic recirc. valves but have heard mixed things. Im currently stage two about to put headers and up pipe on and thinking about a TD05 turbo down the road so idk if a BOV is worth it?
Thanks |

If I were you I would just stick with the stock bpv, you can always crush the top of it down to make it hold a few more psi. That's what the 1g dsm guys used to do.

you can't crush the 08+ plastic bpv's
edit: can't is a strong word...let me rephrase...the average person can't easily crush the 08+ plastic bpv |

08_sti, you are well on your way to making the biggest newbie mistake of not reading. By what you posted, we all can tell that you didn't read a single thing in the original post.

I disconnected my stock BPV from the recirc hose last weekend, plugged the hose with a 1" PVC plug (used in plumbing) and then went for a drive to hear the rice.
Upon starting, the car runs like crap, fluctuating idle and sometimes stalling if I let the RPM drop too far. I couldn't even let the car idle unassisted. Now, why is it that I can go from a perfectly running car, to this, by simply disconnecting the recirc hose? I would understand it running poorly after a few vents to atmosphere, but immediately after starting? I don't even think the ECU can 'learn' that quickly. Other than the idling problem, it popped a few flames and would be extemely shaky starting out in 1st and shifting into 2nd. It is not shaky for the most part with the BPV connected. Reconnected the BPV and car instantly runs 100% better. |

Question:
If you go aftermarket BOV (ex. TSI RFL BOV) on a 2011 WRX Limited IN ADDITION TO a cat-back exhaust....Would there be any requirement for a re-tune. im pretty sure not, but theres far more familiar folks here than I. LEMME KNOW- |

You cannot tune to compensate for a BOV venting to atmostphere. If you are talking about a full recirculating BOV, it will work the same as your stock BPV, no tune required. |

Newbie first post
As a newbie to the scoobie, I appreciate the time and effort put into the the original post, it helped me out a lot. Seems like it comes down to preference of liking the sound and taking the risk with leaks, as with any mod your going to have your pros and cons, this one being a fairly minor one. With that being said I made my choice and went ahead and got one, went with the turbo smart Subaru specific application.

So while buying a Nameless Performance midpipe for my '11 WRX, the Synapse DV caught my attention, so I splurged and got that too. Any tips on push vs. pull mode? What will sound better and give me the greatest performance gains? I've done some research and watched some videos, but I wanna hear what the NASIOC folks gotta say.

as far as "tuning" for a bov, would running speed density help reduce the negative effects?

Speed density completely removes the issues altogether because you are no longer using your maf sensor to calculate fueling.

Would their be any negative effects to this? i wanted to try it because i have the option using the accessport race tuner but i didnt know if it required adjusting or if the maps were automatically calibrated.

no negative effects from going speed density, but your maps on the accessport are just base maps. To be accurate, you would want them adjusted.
