_brian_ thanks for breaking it down a little bit more.

Jobber didn't your mother tell you as a child if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all? I guess not Lol

I personally love this feature, one question is what would be a long term risk of using it all the time?

Thanks

The sound to me is not attractive, but to each his or her own. Is this supposed to be overrun or pops/burbles like in Mini Coopers and many other cars with programming designed to mimic "classic" exhaust sounds? If so, maybe it would sound better with a different exhaust combo than the one in the video.

That's correct, I would agree with a little bit louder exhaust maybe it would have sounded better haha.

@BrenTuning
Is the Cobb SF intake still problematic to tune? Will you guys do a better etune on the stock intake instead?

No I don't recommend any of their turbos for these cars, the consistency is piss poor. When they work they're great but I have seen over a dozen fail or have issues both in house and remotely. It's always the installer/tuner error even when we have pulled the turbo apart and found tons of small cracks in the hotside. The customer service even shop to shop was terrible so I can't imagine how it would be for a consumer.

You are much better off sending the turbo to socal porting and have them upgrade/port your stock turbo.

My tuner refused to install one of their turbos. I'm so glad I listened to him. Love my Garrett.

Default BrenTuning | 2015 WRX development thread

Just an update:
I hit 40k miles last week. 32k miles have been on a stage 1 or stage 1 plus OS tune from BrenTuning with zero complaints. (COBB SF intake, TGV deletes, EGR delete, GS EBC)

I just finished my stage 2 plus os tune with them last week with GS intercooler and charge pipe, Bomba BPV, COBB Catted J pipe. All I can say is I'm thankful I installed the full STI brake setup before stage 2. Car feels excellent.

I can say hands down best experience dealing with theses guys over last 18 months. I recommend them almost instantly when people ask me about my WRX.

For guys like me who get their tunes remotely (South Carolina)and install everything in their garage, these guys have ridiculously good turnaround on revisions. They also give sound advice and are very picky about parts and ensuring things are done right. I remember during stage 1 they insisted I had a very slight boost leak. I disagreed. I checked through everything, nothing...They insisted to check again. I took my EBC and hoses apart and reassembled twice, and damn it if it didn't make full boost soon after.

BrenTuning has grown extensively in last few years, I still feel like they treat me well. Unlike other tuning experiences I've had in and around Charlotte NC, these guys are committed to making long term satisfied customers. Top notch quality customer service.

I look forward to me next upgrades.

Keep up the great work guys. I'll keep coming back.

Got my car tuned at BrenTunning last Friday and very happy with the results. Bren is on top of his trade and talking to him for few minutes you realize this guy really loves cars/performance. BrenTunning in my eyes is what happens when "nerds decide to play with cars". He took me and another customer on a tour of the shop and this place is amazing and it is located in of all places Massachusetts.

I initially went to get Stage 1 Protune but ended up adding Grimm Speed boost controller and TGV deletes. Final numbers came back as 280whp/287wtq. The car now feels like an average 4 cylinder car in normal driving but turns into a beast when I press down on the gas pedal. I have only managed to push 83% on the pedal and that alone scared me at 16psi. The car pulls amazing on the highway.

Thought this was pretty interesting. Just took in a 2015 WRX that we have tuned basically its whole life. Car has 60K miles on it and has TBE/Intake/TGVD. Customer is adding a Perrin header/Grimmspeed TMIC/Charge pipe and we are retuning. He wanted to do some maintenance before hand so he did the plugs and had us do the carbon cleaning. This was the worst case we have seen on the FA20DIT. No misfires or anything immediately noticeable unless you drive the car every day, but he did say that he noticed some drivability issues along with power degradation over time. Check out the before/after walnut blast picture!

We offer this service for $500 out the door.

No AOS? My car has 77k miles with little to no build up on valves... Must be the E85 and AOS.

Great Job!

That's an impressive difference. You guys need to do a before/after plot just for this service. If the results are measurable, I'd think this would be something every FA owner would add to their maintenance list.

Hi Bren, are you seeing anything noticeable when it comes to some valves being dirtier than others?

Things like:
- egr delete
- catch cans / aos
- oil used
- lots of short trips
etc

The AOS could definitely be helping but I dont see how E85 could? Fuel doesnt flow over the intake valves in these engines which is the reason why it has started becoming an issue with direct injection.

How often do you recommend to get that service? Every 30k?
