Get yourself a suit and some boots. Then you can meet him on a track day.

I plan to see you guys at TWS in July. I have everything ready to go!

Yep, bring it on by. Ed likes that XX crap, I like almost every ale.

Registration for June 5-6 is open, it'd be cool to meet some other TXIC riders:

(I have no affiliation with lstd, other than they're a great organization and I'm really looking forward to these trackdays)

Dos XX is good but I prefer Pacifico or some good German beer.

Maybe Frank and PJ can get there bikes up to shape and make it to the track event also?

Got the first video from one of my mount buyers out in California. GoPro bought two mounts as well and were recording with them this weekend...

What kinda mounts did they use?

I got a camera but on the dirt bike all I can do is mount it on my helmet. Anything on the bike bounces too much and makes me sick while watching.

These are made for getting around all the bouncing.

I guess I just need to know what size mount I should get.

You would not know what a track day would approve would you?
I gotta find some Street bike videos with this mount.

By looking at some of the videos, does that mount clamps onto the Forks on the dirtbike?

Do you think they will clamp on a 53mm Ohlins fork? They are much larger than the stock Dirtbike forks.

Not *exactly* sure but I can bet the 1 & 2 ft should be no problem...the 3 ft might need approval...I can bet $$$ the 4 ft would be out lol

Which track days?...TMS or TWS?

Yup...the farther out FMX coverage was clamped onto the forks....Chuck Carother's front forks are oversized...not sure the mm though...will ask him. The closer coverage was clamped onto the handlebars.

Should be fine...53mm = 2.087 inches...the big clamps are good for 2.1 inches...and a big bigger if needed....but safely 2.1...

Edit...Chuck texted back but didn't know the mm of the forks...however he just switched back to his normal size forks.

The track day will be at Eagles Canyon Raceway. It is a street bike track day.

The Forks say they are 53mm but I thin that might be the internal size??? I will check them when I get home. If he had Ohlins on his bike I think they might be the same. But I would not run Ohlins on a dirtbike, they are to fancy.

I guess I will call the track and see what they say. How fast have these been on the bikes/cars?

I think the trap speed of some of the tracks I will be at is anywhere from 100mph to 140mph.
Sorry for too many questions but if they will take them at the track and I am going to get some of these.

Right on! No prob!

Here's more info in OT...

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1985486

In that thread you'll see a shot of my GC...that was with the big 4 foot on the front of the GC where I was cookin' fairly fast to get motion blur. Not for that shot but I've gone 125 or so to get the motion blur...The 2 ft mount should be completely fine with 140+...

I have a customer in Dallas with a streetbike...need to see if he's got coverage of it yet or just his supermoto.

Cool, supermoto won't do that fast though

I will PM you later when I get some measurements and some answers on my end answered from ECR.

...
There's zero chance that any Ohlins fork for a dirtbike would be used on a street-bike, unless it was for a Supermoto setup (which is still a dirtbike). Ohlins makes forks for many applictions, so don't bet that just b/c the dirtbike in the vid might've had Ohlins on it that they are the same diameter as your street-bike forks. I'd guess your forks (the uppers.. or stanchions as they are called) are larger in diameter.

If some aftermarket company makes a replacement top triple-clamp for your bike, you could look up their application guide and it would surely list the fork stanchion diameter that it fits. Likewise, a steering dampener will usually list the clamp-range that it'll work on (and Ohlins sells dampeners for their forks, as luck would have it ).

Good Call James! I looked on the website and Ohlins does not list the size. Had a hard time trying to find it in Google. I texted an Aprilia expert I know.

I will still measure to make sure but I do think they are 53mm.

Ok so they are 51mm top (right at the triple clamp)
and 53mm towards the bottom. FYI.....

No I mean I'm curious to see if he has streetbike coverage yet, or if he's just using it on his supermoto.

Ah, cool deal... they narrow at the top. I have seen that before now that I think about it. The gixxer forks I have for my rg are like that, iirc... but I think it's just where they fit inside the top-clamp. At any rate, sounds like you're good to go.

Post the vids when you get this done (not that you wouldn't anyway, but just saying...).
