that's really the only one I could find any info on... He sounds pretty happy with his, but I'd like to get a few more opinions and some feedback from guys who are daily driving with one. Hopefully the folks mentioned above will chime in

Yea that was at 23 lbs on a stock block.

I'm running the Dom3 and made some fantastic numbers on only 20 psi but really, it is such a bitch dealing with the inlet and all the other bs on a stock location turbo, really wish I went rotated for a number of reasons, not even related to power output.

I also wish I waited 2 weeks after I bought the Dom3 and got the Dom4

Oh yea and those numbers were with him shifting early at about 6500 which is where that Dom4 really is getting started so yea, take it with a moderate grain of salt

From Blouch.

I'd go with this hands down over the ATP. I just think 35R's in a stock location aren't a great idea.

I don't know...those are some pretty badass numbers from any turbo that size, yet alone stock location.

Let's not forget:
- Some people might already have the inlet installed, and may have a prior EWG setup
- APS inlet is far easier to install on an EJ205 intake manifold

For these people who can just swap out to a big stock location turbo, rotated might not be the best choice

But yeah if someone was dumping everything in at once it'd be kinda stupid not to go rotated

Why the hate for the ATP35R?!? It is a truly badass turbo... especially for a stock location. I can't say I have any personal experience with the Dom3, but I do know the ATP35R very well and it performs very closely to a true rotated GT35R. I highly doubt that you have driven or tuned Dom4 and ATP35R cars personally.

Having said that I have been very impressed with the Dom3's I have dealt with so I'm sure the Dom4 is a quality but to say that it is hands down better than and ATP35R is silly.

As I said 06rexwagon has one on his wrx with sti tranny.. He made like 540hp on E85. He actually had the first one from blouch. He tested it for them.

While I don't have the hands-on experience with either, all I can do is what anyone does when considering a turbo at first and absorb all the data I can from each. My complaint is just that the stock location 35R doesn't seem to have the powerband or spool that a rotated would. I understand this is a part of the design, but I don't see going any larger than a Dom4/HTA Green/SR56 (two of which I have had experience with ). I love ATP turbos in general, but I'm just really not a fan of any stock location 35R equivalent. They seem to get close in terms of peak numbers, but in pretty much every one I've seen boost/power falls off earlier than rotated, and it spools later.

Turbo choice is highly personal, maybe I should've emphasized the subjectiveness a bit more, but if I were to go that big there's really no point in not going rotated, between inlet size and hotside size possible in stock location. Just my $.02. I know you've worked with quite a few of them, and perhaps I just have a differing opinion, but they're just not my first choice.

i went from a 18g, fmic, ewg, etc., etc., to a stock location atp 30r. mainly because i got a great deal and i already had the other bolt ons.

i dont know how it is on 2.5l but on the 2.0l world.. rotated is a huge ass difference in torque. token negro made 350whp 350tq, tell me a stock location 30r that can do that? i haven't seen a stock location turbo period that can do that... more like 350whp 300wtq lol

i hate the stock location inlet.. it's a tight fit and prone to leaks. specially the 3" inlet. none of the less i don't like it. i wish they would've made the stock location a rotated style.. then i probably wouldn't argue so much about it.

now isn't the dom 4 like a 1700-1800 dollar turbo? wow thats like 2/3s from a rotated kit...

the point is that there is a difference between rotated and stock location and if your spending all that money. why not do it right the first time so you dont cry about it later.

exactly dude(like usual, you and I are on the same page)..people are just so blind when it comes to wanting to go rotated(not you zeropsi, no offense to you, I like a lot of your posts and setups) but it makes no sense why some of these guy's go rotated, when they could get far better response and not have to replace so much stuff..more oem ftw, not to mention cost!

look at the evo guy's with their new fpred...mid 9 second passes with a fpred and they laugh at 35r STi's (as they should)

we should follow more in suit with those guy's, they are going fast and at a fraction of the cost.

davenow and I consantly have the arguement about the spool of these turbo's, I feel there is no rotated turbo other than a 30r that can actually hit full boost before ~4000rpm, he feels that rotated turbos can spool faster; needless to say, I am not a believer in his opinions on these rotated turbo's

The only reason I can see a stock location 'large' turbo spooling quicker than a rotated set up is simply because of the small exhaust housing. But a rotated turbo has a better powerband and more peak torque for the same reason. The smaller exhaust housing on the stock location turbo will also greatly affect power once boost is turned up on race fuel.

I've priced stock location big turbo kits and rotated kits and when using a turbo such as a Blouch Dominator series the price difference is literally a couple hunderd bucks. So unless you just have gripes about a rotated kit or already have every bolt-on and supporting modification needed for a large stock locatoin turbo I dont see why you wouldnt go rotated.

Well said. It took me a long time to really accept the benefit of a rotated setup on a 2.5, and in learning about the 2.0 (since the 2.5's a bit more native to me), I'm realizing this is definitely the case. I've seen one very, very well done 207 on a rotated setup locally and there really isn't a comparison, IMO.

Thanks. I agree with some of this, and advocate stock location up to a point for the very same reasoning. I also advocate rotated for certain setups too. No matter how much empirical evidence can be shown on either side, it's still going to be so much a matter of preference.

I think Evo's a bit different comparison in terms of the FP Red, due to much better turbo location, and thereby ability to run larger inlets and exhaust housings. I can't argue the overall effectiveness of the Red as a turbo, as basically a journal bearing 35R, but it's capability is going to be different between say, a stock Subaru location vs. a stock Evo location.

I agree after a certain price point. Luckily, the most expensive stock location turbo I like is $1400.

Try $1900 from ATP on a stock location 3076R or 35R with the 30R being either internal or externally gated or the 35R being externally gated.

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=SUB

Way to freaking expensive! But nice.

i made 432/436 on 109 octane on my stock block on my forester. I was using an IWG and stock headers ftl. ewg and some el headers would give some better numbers but the car pulls like a raped ape as it is

didnt search hard enough since here i am by the way

Yeah...they get pricey. My point was that my favorite stock location turbo, the HTA Green, is $1400 and I don't know if I'd go any more expensive on stock location.
