Default Can anyone comment on the Potenza RE 940's

I need to buy new tires, and i can get a good deal on these tires... Set of 4 for 407.00 which includes all service. Are these good tires? does anyone have them? do you recommend them, or should i look for some other deals? Any comments would help!

Thanks,
Dan

No, they are not good tires, believe it or not. Bridgestone discovered that they had terrible wet vs. dry traction. For that money, I would look at the RE950s..it's not even far from Bridgestone SO2PPs, which are discontinued and being flushed from inventories at huge discounts.
take care,
rob

I had a set on my Mustang GT a few years back. At the time, Z-rated all-seasons were hard to come by, and I went with the RE940s. I was not impressed. I can't really give you any specific info, as it's been a good 5 years now. One thing I though was really weird, but didn't discover until about 6 months after I put them on the car - they have an assymetric tread pattern, but they're not unidirectional. That means that cool assymetric tread pattern spins in opposite directions on each side of the car! Very strange, and I can't imagine that's an optimal setup.
