Got my rear struts swapped out over the weekend, planning on doing the front struts this weekend! I may also put a set of WRX 4 pots on this weekend, maybe some other stuff!
Also, was pulling out of a stoplight after finishing the struts last night and saw a mustang's headlights coming up behind me and to the right. Was wondering if he was going to go for it and when we both finished the left turn he gunned it right away and I floored it in kind! That TD04 kicks in so quick I got 2 car lengths on him right away and held it to about 65 MPH and then displacement/gearing won out and he pulled ahead of me. Have been getting more races now that the car is lowered, even got to scoot through traffic with a Porsch the other day! Fun times lately!

Updating the thread:
Did 4 pots over the weekend. It's pretty easy. Remove the tire, remove the bolts holding the caliper on, remove the caliper and rest it on the suspension. Get a 12 mil bolt without the threads going to the end, pop off the rotor, put the new rotor on, place the new calipers on and slide the 17 mil bolts on to mount the caliper. Start with the top bracket bolt, it's easier. Once you have the caliper on, remove the brake line, from the old caliper that's resting on your suspension. There are two washers, one on each side of the end of the brake line. You need to make sure to clean these washers so you get a good seal to your new brakes. Giving them a good scrubbing with your shirt will do! Eyyy i'm gonna finish this later cuz i'm on my phone lol. Here's some pics: |

Photo of my Fozzy the weekend I did my front struts. Remember that I installed WRX Wagon suspension? Well the struts were blown on a few on the corners, and the rear top hats were failing, but at least I got some springs out of the deal! I removed th front suspension, took the top hats from my Forester suspension, the new WRX wagon KYB's (essentially OEM replacement) and the WRX wagon springs from the suspension I had installed on the Forester earlier, and built new suspension, then put them back on the car! Hey pro-tip, make sure to get a pass through wrench so you can tighten the nut on top of the strut that holds everything together! That will make putting the suspension together so much easier!

Pic of my bro and my dad as we are working through some of the electrical for the sport shifter. Got my 05-06 Baja Turbo TCU installed a few weekends ago. Oh man the Baja turbo TCU makes a huge difference!

So it's been a few weeks and man this coronavirus thing is insane! Can you believe it?! I've been on lockdown for two weeks!
Did a test fitting of my new side skirts and spats and bumper extension. It looks really good, I'm hype! Check it out: The bumper is OEM from the Forester XT Sports body kit, and the spats and side skirts are from the Cross Fire and STi body kits (the linked website shows the spats on both cars) While removing the old skirts and front mud guards I had a few screws that had rusted shear off on me. Between those, learning that double sided sticky tape that is used for some OEM placements (and that now I need double sided sticky tape for their replacements), and a few other clips that I hadn't expected to be damaged, I need to make another run to Subaru for parts. No biggie though, everything looks good so far. Also rolled through a buddies place yesterday to have my downpipe welded. The back story to that is I got given a catless 3" downpipe for free, but it had a hairline crack at the turbo side of the downpipe where the flange meets the bellmouth. I called a buddy up and he said come on over! He was able to put a good bead along the flange next to the bellmouth, and kept it for the next few days to do some additional welding when he gets in to work on Monday. The shop that we met at is a JDM junkie's dream. Half cuts and nose clips galore. Racks and racks of engines, entire racks of EJ series motors. Lots of Honda stuff too, and even a complete RDH Civic hatch that had been imported from Japan. When I got in there some dude was prepping a EJ207 to be put in Impreza that had been given a WRX transmission and coilovers! Dope! Out front was a suped up bugeye WRX wagon and what looks like a 04/05 STi that had also been tuned to the gills, I got a shot: End of the post for me. I'm probably going to change my oil tomorrow, although it's only been 2-3k miles sine I've lasted changed my oil, I've been hooning it the entire time and it feels like it needs an oil change. Just preventative measures, yah know? Stay safe everybody, I hope all your families are taken care of and healthy through this hard time! |
