My current cars are-

2016 VW Tiguan SEL 4motion (36k miles)

2011 Ford Fusion SEL (105k mikes)

2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ (152k miles)

2007 Mazdaspeed6 (just rebuilt it, skipped timing and cased intake valves, 89k miles)

All the cars except the Tiguan are going to be sold. Was going to buy a STi after I sold them but just found out we are having a kid so probably will get something a little more practical/roomy. My driveway also really sucks, really should get something with ground clearance, have to use the Tiguan or tractor to pull my cars out sometimes... perks of living in the middle of nowhere northern Vermont...

Previous cars-

2016 VW Tiguan S (54k mikes, turned it in after the lease was up)

2008 Impreza (spun rod bearings at 113k miles and junked it because it was very rusty)

2005 Mazda 6i (sold at 210k miles running strong)

1997 Impreza gf8 with ej25 swap (spun rod bearings on that at 147k miles, parted it out)

1996 Toyota Tercel ( first car, smashed the oil pan when I was 16 and didn’t realize it until it burned a cylinder up, because stupid teenager....)

1998 Pontiac Grand Am coupe (bought and sold it when I was 14)

Also shared a 1997 Audi A4 2.8 5 speed with my brother for a bit, that car was a tank. Sold at 230k miles running flawlessly. I miss that car. Wasn’t very fast but it drove really well and we never had any issues with it, biggest mistake was selling it...

Not to say there aren't modified subbies. There's a group/community of modified cars and racebois, and if you want to surround yourself in that, you will find 100% of the modified ones... but they are not the majority. At all.

Lots of JDMs too.

The vast majority of WRX’s in VT are owned by college kids who straight pipe them with a OTS Cobb tune and beat them around town. Talk about obnoxious and give them a bad name unfortunately.... VEMS tuning does get some properly built ones in though

Damn, that's pretty bonkers. How decent is the Subaru suspension geometry at putting all that power to just the rear wheels and not constantly roasting the tires?

Never driven any of the TBI Caprices, but the LT1 powered B-bodies are another level for sure. Instant, brutal torque and throttle response from idle upwards, haha. Really silly and laughable in stock grandpa Caprice/Roadmaster/Caddy form.
I swapped a T56 6 speed manual in mine some years ago, and it made the car a completely new animal. Super engaging and rewarding to drive, but not a straight line rocketship by any stretch. Pretty sure my very mild daily WRX wagon would win in a drag race, haha.

Hello all! I am 55, and I own a 2003 WRX wagon that I purchased new. The car just made 100,000 miles. I wish to recondition it, and read the very informative sticky about middle aged Subarus. With this car so old will finding factory level parts be a challenge for me, or will the standard outlets (Rockauto, O’Reilly’s, etc.) be helpful? Unfortunately being new to this forum I am not able to post a picture of my car, yet.

Thank you for any and all information you can give me!

Regards,
Dan
