No, I haven't. I figured since it's in my Subaru maybe Subaru people have dealt with this.

It's been a few year since I signed up for RomRaider but since you just registered they might require a moderator to approve your first post.

Yes, I think that's what it is.

I'm hoping someone around here can help.

So with everything I was trying yesterday my car was never running (didn't really think it needed to be) so today I started it up and tried connecting to the ecu. Still nothing.

Romraider boots up perfectly, click logger and that boots up perfectly (as you pros would know, without the correct definition and xml files it will not) yet still cannot connect to the ecu, ughh.

When using the latest RomRaider (0.5.9), if I open an image and then save to a new file without making any changes to the original image, there still seem to be some other random changes within the new ROM file (did a binary compare with BeyondCompare program). RomRaider's "ROM Compare" tool will say both files are identical. When I open either file with RomRaider, it says "Checksum disabled". Does anyone know exactly what these other random changes are when saving a new file via RomRaider? I guess I can post on their forum but there seem to be more responsive people here.

Basically, I'm reluctant to flash a new ROM image that contain unexplained changes.

Did you select the Com port? Is the computer actually showing the Tactrix hooked up to the USB port? Do you have Ecuflash installed (as it has the driver for the Tactrix cable in the software) or did you download the driver seperately?

I have Ecuflash installed and working as well.

In RR the COM button doesn't show any options though. When I click it there's nothing there.

Default Air pump code reflash

New to the forum.. I have done a ecu reflash with tactix. Selected all the DTCs that I wanted to trigger and left all the secondary air pump codes unchecked and reflashed. After two or three drive cycles I get p0410. At first I figured I must of mistakenly selected it. Went through the reflash again making sure I didn't miss anything. Still p0410 returns. Please help what am I missing?

In order to disable a DTC in EcuFlash you need to select it so that edit dialog comes up, change it from 'enabled' to 'disabled', and then flash that modified ROM image back. Just checking the box doesn't disable or enable. Reading you description I'm not sure if you followed that procedure.

Since the romraider webpage is down, I figured I would post here....

Can anyone shed some light on why my Tactrix 1.3 cable no longer is connecting to my 2004 USDM STI?

Readback fail when reading rom image using ECU Flash

No response when reading with learning view....

I've been searching all over and even asking around with no luck.

I cannot read due to, what I think, not being able to "choose car" (2015 2.0 Impreza Sport Prem).

Are there updated instructions out there?
-PLEASE! Point me in the right direction, reply, or PM me.

What am I doing wrong?

Do I load the new definitions?
-These instructions are fairly old. I see my car (impreza 2.0) in the original Subaru folder but not in ECU Flash when choosing my car.

Forget about the definition for now. Click on the first icon on ecu flash and choose can bus 2007+. Connect your cable and pull the rom and save the file. Post it in Romraider forums for the definition.

Throttle Happy got back to me and had me just use the "BRZ" option which gave me an error after reading. Which was expected by him.

I'm currently in the works (job/school/time needs to match up)of verifying install to make sure it's not just a placebo affect that I feel.

I appreciate your suggestions and help through youtube and here!

Default Someine please help.

I have a 98 impreza outback 2.2L N/A and I am trying to find a way to tune it (write to the ECU) short of buying or having access to the factory Soob software. Is this even possible? I will be adding a Turbo soon @ 6-7 lbs boost and would like to know how I can accommodate this without a piggyback or full ECU. I could tolerate a piggyback, but prefer to have access to timing and other variables.

Thanks in Advance, Tony

Hey Tony,

Cool project. I used to have a 99 OBS myself. There is no good tuning solution for these older ECUs. I believe EcuTek made something long ago but there really isn't any product currently that will allow you to reprogram your Hitachi/Jecs ECU. Dealership software will not allow you to custom tune the ECU tables to compensate for a turbo being bolted on. You might just want to do what I did when I started working at Tactrix, buy an older WRX
Good luck!

This is opensource for limited non-turbo ECU's, nice software and dongle. More expensive than Romraider/Tactrix but theres only a few people developing it

Hey, that's a pretty cool project. I hadn't heard about that. I'll point people in their direction as I get a couple requests a month for support on the older Jecs ECU cars. There is this project in France for turbo (non-USDM) vehicles of that vintage, but they don't support NA vehicles.

http://eculabs.com

I've tried to talk them in to adding support but no go so far.
