Default So where can I find some info on changing oil on an Xterra?

Yeah, what the subject said. Offered to do this for a friend in exchange for beer, but don't know where anything is and don't want to crawl around in the snow here to find the oil pan and filter. I'd like to know where that stuff is before I get under it this weekend. There doesn't seem to be a phat daddy site like nasioc (or that other impreza board) with info. like this that I don't have to register in to look around.

I'm pretty sure it'll be easy to spot..

all you have to do is find where it comes out.. where the filter is.. and where it goes in.

hints
in = top
filter = side
out = bottom

Hey Fishy, the filter on the RS isn't on the side.

Sephro, nearest car parts store that actually has manuals for anything except a Ford or Chevy is in Albuquerque, 2.5 hours away.

Thanks, totoherbs. Didn't find that. That'll keep me from having to crawl around in the mud any more than necessary.

Noticed that on the link that totoherbs put up. That's why I wanted to find some information on it before I got under the car. Should be fun to do.

That always goes bad...

Last time I helped a friend do thier oil it was a toal mess. Mtsu eclipse have much suck.... and the jiffy lube put the oil filter on so tight that the plastic wrench things they sell at auto zone twisted can riped in half. I only got it off after stabing a screw driver threw it and prying it with a 4' long pipe.

I was taught by my instructors to remove stuck filters just that way. Its a lot easier than using a wrench/strap.

It has never failed for me in the past that everytime I go out of my way to help some honey do anything a simple project turns into a cluster fuq. But still I'm a sucker for a damsel in distress though now I pick and choose my altruistic measures quite carefully.

Have a friend with an Xterra, he is addicted to www.xterraownersclub.com as people here are to NASIOC. Check it out, I'm sure there's something there.
