![]() Hey all! I have 2009 Impreza sedan, I recently replaced the fuel injectors and spark plugs but since then every time I turn the key the car dies. No start, no power. I think it’s a short somewhere but I haven’t played with any of the wiring except when I changed the fuel injectors (unplug, plugged it back in). I checked all the fuses and wire hookups/grounds and I don’t see any problem with my eyes, all injector wires are free of debris.
All help Is welcomed. -Empala

![]() A short would blow fuses, verify you have a clean good connection at the battery and follow the cables to the starter and engine ground.

![]() Connections are clean. And all cables are in the proper place, I will check again. Power is throughout entire car except when I turn the key, then it***8217;s all dead.

![]() That's typical when the key is in the start position as the starter has a high current draw.
When you let go of the key ; do the gauges sweep again like when you first turn the car on. If they sweep a second time, then the ECM is loosing power or voltage is dropping below 10volts, you may have a bad starter. |

![]() Got the starter tested. Starter is good.
The gauges do not sweep a second time. Before engaging the clutch and total key turn all electrical works. |

![]() Well then the ECM is staying powered, any chance you have 15 floor mats under the clutch not allowing it to go all the way to the floor? Clutch safety switch may have failed.

![]() Just a small idea, could try to pop start it if there are no mats under the clutch peddle.
Also a battery is good for 5-6 years.... an 09 would be due for its 2nd replacement, just some food for thought, maybe trying a jump start off another car? Also maybe try disconnecting the battery wait a few mins or so, then reconnect them and try starting it. Last edited by serrilion; 01-07-2021 at 10:39 PM. Reason: im an idiot speller |

![]() Just replaced the batter a year ago, battery is good. I will check the clutch safety switch this weekend.

![]() Is there spark when you are cranking? Is there fuel when you are cranking?
The first thing I think of with crank no start is the crank position sensor. If I was going to start throwing Parts out at that would be the first one. I think the wiring harness on the Impreza is prone to false relating to it and so when you start disturbing stuff there might be a short somewhere. |

![]() Power works throughout the car, clutch sensor is good. Trying to find a possible short, but I’m not sure where. Going to start with the ground to starter and start tracing.
