![]() Hello world,
I've had this 2002 WRX since 2006. After countless mods, stage 2, rebuild and back to stock, the motor blew at 287,XXX miles on my way back to Oregon, I am now stuck in Southern Utah. Luckily I have friend who's been willing to put me up for the past month while I work, and work on the Subie. Needless to say I love this car. I ordered a JDM EJ205 V7 engine from eBay, Iwire AVCS bulkhead, and a JDM Sti V7 ECU. I had to put the USDM stock headers and up-pipe on it cause the JDM ones were cracked. I reflashed the ECU using a tractrix cable with a map (A4SD800A) I downloaded from Romraider (https://www.romraider.com/forum/view...hp?f=35&t=7591) The car runs, no check engine lights, no vacuum leaks. I'm nervous about driving it to Oregon because of knock/ blowing the motor. The JDM motor is higher compression than the USDM and it takes a higher Octane. Can somebody help, or point me in the right direction? I need an open source map via tractrix cable for a JDM V7 WRX setup to work on 91 octane.

![]() I've been doing some logging, grandma-ing around town.
Doing research on the values and their meanings. IAM coming in a 8 which according to my research lol is the stock eco parameter for this car, it will go up if there aren't ripe conditions for knock and it will go down if it thinks I am getting knock. Knock correction advance (KCA?) 1.5 @ 3673rpm only and then down to .5 @ 3916rpm. what this all mean? am I knocking or did I go over a bump? I was doing some reading and I've learned that I need to reduce timing values, and make sure that m fuel trims are in spec range of -5% and +5% if not work on my MAF calling and repeat. does anybody out there have a good base map for a v7 JDM WRX running on 91 octane that I can use as a guide to make something usable for my Subie? even screen shots of the things I should be working would work. |

![]() Hey, cool project, since you're using the A4SD800A rom it's a good base map, remember to take a look into your inyector scaling table and match your currents injectors, rescale your MAF if you're using an aftermarket intake, and enrich your cold start tables cause the jdm engines doesn't have tgv's so the coold start can be an issue if not an issue right now forget about it, oem fuel tables should be ok if your goal it's just a daily drive, taliking about octane Subaru oem roms are tuned for 91 and higher octane gas (usually up to 93), quote from the owners manual for 2.0 wrx engines:
"2.0 Liter (turbo) models: The 2.0 Liter turbo engine is designed to operate using premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 AKI or higher. If premium unleaded gasoline is not available, regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 AKI or higher may be temporarily used. For optimum engine performance and driveability, it is recommended that you use premium grade unleaded gasoline." Talking from the octane rating, adding a more higher octane gas in a big picture view (and with the hope to not get into dramas with old school carburated guys) i'ts just help to get less knock, lower the gas octane higher the risk of persistant and heavy knock. So in short words you good to go, just log, made adjustments if neccesary (once at the time) and try again. |
