Default Help me pick a tire size (05 STI w/JDM Pinks and stock wheels)

I have been looking at the tire calculator here: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and I have come up with a few different options for my next set of tires. I am either going to get another set of RE070s or a set of RE-01Rs. Here are the combos that I am looking at:

RE070 - 225/45R17 (Stock which obviously = drama free)
RE-01R - 235/45R17 (Searching on Nasioc seems to indicate that this size is ok and possibly stock on some JDM imprezas)
RE-01R - 245/40R17 (Seems to be popular, is it?)
RE070 - 255/40ZR17 (Will it fit my rims? Will it rub?)

Here are my goals/needs:

-99% street driving/1% motor sports (drag, open lapping, Auto-X)
-I dont want the tires to rub
-I dont want the tires to wear poorly or strangely

Can anybody offer some advice here?

i think 245/40 would be best since you compete.. i doubt it'd rub

235 or 245/40/17. and why are you looking at only bridgestones? and don't buy re070s unless they're takeoffs from another member. there are better tires out there for the money.

Ok, so based on feedback, the front runner is currently the RE-01R - 235/45R17. Are there any other tires that I should consider? I want performance to be the same or better than the RE070 (which I really like). Thanks.

you'll likely rub with a 235/45/17 on unmodified rear fenders. 235/40 or 245/40 are better sizes.

Yok A007's are the best/fastest street compounds available. They are about to release their new A008's that are even faster and should last even longer.

RE01's are also good but dont compare to the Yoks.

245-40-17 on 8" rims will work great and wont rub unless you are lowered etc. Get a good alignment while you are at it that reflects the type of driving you want to focus on.

I'm on 245/45/17 Advan AD07s on the stock BBS 8" wheel, lowered on JDM Pinks and RCE lowering plates and have no rubbing on road or track.

RE01Rs are nice tires, but also don't forget about the Star Specs. I'd say after running both RE01Rs and the AD07s, the AD07s are the best, but given price as a factor, the Star Specs should be the best buy. I have no personal experience with them though.

Here's some pics of the AD07s on my car:
