I did the motor, trany, and pich stop mounts, NVH is more and now I have a ratle on start up and idle. I still have to investigate it. but shifting and clutching feel beter with the new mounts.

Even with the NVH I would still install them again.

i put my kit in friday and there a must have upgrade for the wrx especially if your runnin more than stock power. they got rid of most of my exedy stage1 clutch shudder my gear changes are smoother i hear alittle more gear whine but its worth it. the only vibration increase to me was at idle and that just feels like a big motor is in there.

Did you already have the transmission mount and upgrade to the engine mounts? I have been looking for someone to clearly tell the difference in results between the engine mounts and transmission mount.

Megan Racing also has Grp N mounts of their own. Same durometer and NVH ratings. I have them on my car and loved them!

man reading all this still has me thinking is it worth to get the Group-N motor mounts.. I'm still on stock mounts on my 95 Legacy at 222K

At idle the best I can describe it is a slight up and down motion when idling, no the engine does not jump around in the bay.

I just want to know if the Group-N mounts are going to be worst off sitting in the car when idling.

replacing your motor mounts will certainly hold your engine in place better, but it will also transfer more NVH into the cabin. you can always get stock replacements if you want them freshened up without the NVH.

hmm, make sure the engine is cooled down.. you know.. it is hot down there..

and be extra caful when you lift the engine..don't get your hands squeezed..

if you have after market sway bars..you need to uninstall it since the nuts are hidden there..

make sure to uninstall pitch stop as well..

this is the only mod i failed installations myself..

If you don't have any aftermarket way bars yet will the hidden nuts be an issue?

umm..

first, i tried to loosen the nuts behind sway bar w/o removing sway bar and one nut was stripped..

second, i coudn't get to the bolt all the way front.. it looked impossible for me unless you take out the engine at that time..

but well.. it was long time ago when i didn't have much car experience.... not enough tools either... maybe i can do this now...

so i ended up letting the shop do it.. it was only $120 labor..he had to drill out the nut and bolt that i stripped..

IMO, engine mount is one of mods that you are better off paying someone to do it....

He could have done it in 30 min if the nut was ok...

I've done this w/ tranny mount on my car, and did this+tranny mount on my friends 08 wrx.

+If you have a ratcheting box end wrench, something low profile will help alot and save you 30-45 mins. Go buy a cheap set from harborfreight or ebay. Really nice tool to have in general.

+also a piece of wood/cutting board 2-3 inches to jam b/w the engine and crossmember so if the jack slips off the oil pan you don't crush your fingers.

dont be afraid, its a simple straight foward install...just hard to reach some places. you need that ratcheting box wrench.

totally worth it on any car, even more so on the high mileage ones.

Guess this is exactly what everyone says needed for engine mount install:

and you use the new aluminum plate that comes with the new group n mounts, but you reuse the 4 nuts, 2 nuts each mount.

also, the mounts that came off my friends 08 wrx are one piece, pancake shaped...they might have been liquid filled. And these come WITHOUT nuts stock so if you are installing into a 08 wrx you will need nuts from subaru or hardware store, or any other subaru nut that will fit.

Did you guys have to loosen up 14mm transmission mount bolts?

If you guys want an adition to the feel of the new trans and motor mounts get the kart boy trans crossmember bushings. i did them the other day and made a big diffrence. you will see when you take the crossmember out and can feel the movement in the bushings that are in there.

Agreed - stock bushing felt like a gum... I upgraded rear stay, crossmember and GN transmission mount all at the same time. Honestly, transmission sounded more like PPG with GN transmission mount installed (whining).
