It's really no biggie to pull the battery - 3 minutes does it. I also found that unhooking the ground wire that fastens to the fender helps move the wires out of the way. Another 30 seconds. I also wonder if the battery needs the removable side protection thing that is wrapped around it - it would make a little more space with it removed. I've also considered cutting out some of that wrap near the low beam area.

Agreed, pulling it's the easy part. Maybe I'm just spastic but I spend forever and a day fighting to simultaneously hook the tie-down bolts under the cut-outs in the battery pan and screw down the nuts to the point where the J-hook won't pop out of the cut-out.

I ordered mine over the weekend and they came in today. I ordered the 9005 and 9006(because I'm a freaking idiot). Those 9006's aren't going to fit in my wagon. Got the 9005's in and they look good. Really bright. Now I just need some H1 HIR's and sell off my 9006's.

One thing about the LEDs also is that they don't produce that much heat which is fine for the summer, but if you live in snowy areas, and you use them as brake lights, you are missing the heat that is normally produced by normal bulbs and snow can build up on the outside of the light. Try passing a Semi with LED brake and marker lights at night in a blizzard, it sucks!

Actually, it's the opposite.
Since it's running cooler, the snow is less prone to accumulate on those lamps. This is because the snow doesn't melt as easily. So there isn't any water on the lamps for the snow to adhere and freeze to. |

Could anyone recommend be a light housing that will fit the in Bugeye fog light housing (5"? 6"?) but will accept a HID bulb (H3 or H4, probably H3).
I know this seems ludicrous but I hunt and have to get up the mountain full of snow and want the light as low as possible (fogs) but as bright as possible on the road (under the falling snow). I found a great deal on H3 and H4 HID kits (used) and I would really like to do this, but only if it will actually help. |

It depends what bulb that light takes. If it is the 9005 or 9006 bulb, then YES by all means get the HIR bulbs, they are redicilously bright. You will like them cause they light up cop cars off in the distance.

You could put some yellow rockblocker over your lights, that would make it really "insanely yellow." (yes it will dim the light a tit bit, not too much to notice though)

Thanks for a great lighting thread. I upgraded my stock bulbs this weekend in my 06 wagon to H3 - 55W Tungsram Gold for the fogs. Osram H7 rallye+65 for the low beams and Toshiba 9011 HIR bulbs for the high beams.
I can't believe how much better I can see road at night. We also adjusted the stock fogs upwards so they hit the road 20 feet from the car, they were uselessly hitting the road 5 feet in front (only helpful for seeing what you just ran over but too late to react), and aimed the low beams about 2" higher. If I start getting irate flashing from on coming cars I'll drop them back down a bit, but no trouble yet. If you do any off road or rural driving, these bulb upgrades are great! |

Good Thread!
My Stock left front headlight went out Along with my Left Front Fog light which has been out for like 7 months. Where can I get the Philips VisionPlus? Since those seem to have the brightest output of light. Sometimes with the OEM bulbs I have to check to make sure I have my lights on. |

My new toys
The Hella boxes are 4 H3 55W Yellowstars (2 for my fogs and 2 for the GF's GLi) The Osram boxes are the H7 65W H9 Burner from www.rallylights.com 2100 lumens or something like that. I will post back after I swap them. Cheers Sweep |
