the big wing and big hood circuit edition? probably not. it suffers from the same affliction as the Civic Type R (and N edition cars from Hyundai), it may all be functional, but it looks like a tarted up ricer, and that has never been my style, I'm more of a goer, not a shower.

the core edition though in white or black? most people won't even recognize it beyond a compact hatch. they won't even notice it has wider fenders. it would be cool if you could get the forged carbon roof without all that other jazz though.

Yeah, the Corolla still looks better than the WRX. Even with all that I said and that charge port center pooper. That's not even open to debate. What is open to debate is small hatchback vs. big sedan. Some people prefer one over the other as a daily. Better to have options to no options.

WRX looks better and it has a ton more room. Obviously the Toyota offers more performance but likely at a much higher price. I doubt anyone will be able to touch one under 50K with the ADM's going on right now. Performance aside, this thing has terrible interior space and looks like a RC car but I'll bet it is a hoot to drive. This is not something I would cross shop against the WRX.

That is a really weird looking rear facia on that corrolla...did they borrow that gigantic bumper from a tundra or Something . A car that actually makes the WRX rear facia look clean. Who knew.

The GR Corolla is ugly in a group B rally car kind of way. Function over form. The WRX is ugly in a "CUV that's trying as hard as possible to seem sporty" kind of way.

I saw a modded normal Corolla hatch the other day and it was regrettable.

I actually like the CE better than the Core. Then again both are Mazdaspeed 3 copies. Not saying I wouldn’t enjoy driving it on track.

While I’m disappointed that the color options are slim, the standard Corolla is built in a typical mass production plant while this is built in Motomachi with a bunch of chassis weld/adhesive improvements. That’s pretty darn cool.

Another "why they don't they make this in blue!!!!". And more "why is this not a big family sedan?" It's just begun and we predicted this a while back. Once PR hits, here come the Chads and Karens with money falling out of their pockets.

Oh btw, they don't make a "racing model" whatever that is. And there aren't going to be any available to you when you decide next year you want one. It's not a Subaru man. You'll have to wait year(s) unless you're dumb enough to screw enthusiasts over by paying 5 figure ADM. GRY has multi-year waiting lists already and it's made in the same factory. For many they'll be even lucky to acquire before production is over and it hasn't even begun.

But I think that's out the window now. Collectors, ADM f'ers, the rich tiki torch whites, will swarm in like they do with so many other things, and that's that mattress man.

I just had this discussion with a car fiend whose had his deposit for a GR86 for quite a while. He's also a watch guy. Apparently Swatch and IIRC Seiko partnered up for some new watch, relatively inexpensive, compared to say a Rolex or whatever expensive shat, and the Randys and Karens came in and the thing is going for ridiculous money. This is like that. If anything, the GRC will help him get his GR86 sooner. Randys and Karens, they are neck swivelers, it doesn't take much. And a bunch of them who have deposits etc will just move it over to the GRC since they are waiting already. Because it will seat their kids (I sat in the base a month ago, good luck with this very compact car doing that duty) or so they think, or whatever reason they dream up. The buying process is going to be an absolute nightmare for many. Worse than they've dealt with ever, and will make the 2016/2017 Focus RS buying situation look like peanuts. It will be a hot mess.

It bears repeating, that we need the Fed to stop printing money by the trillions. That’s why the Karen’s have so much money to spend, and buy up everything for sale.

They have stopped the printing press as of March, but we’ll see how long that lasts.

ADM will be a thing for the Circuit edition. will the Core be a limited run as well? certainly at first it'll be a thing that it'll be hard to find, but a year from now? I guess we'll find out...

as far as the interior space, it'll be bigger than my BRZ, not as big as my wife's OBW, but it wouldn't need to be, just big enough to handle some of the in town driving with a family.

where it is a perfect shop against a WRX is that it is AWD, manual, performance oriented, and can handle family life when needed, the only question is what will the MSRP be, and to that we can all only speculate, and thus only jerk each other in circles.

Yes really. The GRY in Europe is offered in Pure White, a pearl white, red, and black. And that’s it. It’s not a Subaru or whatever, where you have a bunch of color choices. Motomatchi is 1/2 hand built type of thing on their cars (simplifying here) and there is so much demand, well it’s not hard to figure out why Yota keeps the colors slim. This is not a high volume model like say a Camry. It’s not a regular Corolla on another assembly line with the plethora of color choices.

So really, you should be happy we even have this option at all given how the USDM buyers are.
