Day 8.5:

A continuation of yesterdays work...

I spent most of today re-organizing the parts i've taking off the car so far into boxes and labeling everything along with dismantling the bumpers and a couple other things. I also worked on the grill a bit including painting it and i've started working on that front logo too No pictures of that yet, but I'll post a picture soon...

I went ahead and removed more bits off the front for preperation, including the headlights, corner lights, and lower bumper cover. As you can see, theres really nothing holding that stuff on, the bulk of the chassis is on the side in the front and there is really no lower support in the front! If I do decide to go with a single radiator, this setup makes it extremely easy to build a custom radiator support that will work just perfect for the car. It also makes it really easy to remove the engine when the time comes

Anyhow, heres a couple of interesting pics:

With the original skidplate on, actually it was hard to get to. I had to remove the skidplate to install it.

Looks good, but I got an idea;

Ok, but some meaty mud bogging wheels, add mudflaps. Paint everything black, including your rims. Tint your headlights (everything pitch black). Then get your saw and cut off the top of it and make it into a convertible with a sequential manual and a turbo hyabusa engine. Don't forget a rollcage too. Mmk.

Agreed. But you've already purchased them, so keep 'em.

I also think that a smaller rim will let it off more nicely, since it will sit better with the wheel well..my opinion though.

I can sell the wheels/tires, but I paid ~$300 installed for the tires, and $150 I think for the wheels and I probably can't get more than $300 for the set with tires so I'll definitely be loosing money, and still have to turn around and buy tires/wheels again...

But, looking at how the wheels/tires fit now, i've started to look at other options... Narrower tires + wheels with a higher offset (current wheels are ~+20 offset with a 6" wide wheel, probably need a +35-40 offset, heres a photo for reference

Anyone else having trouble seeing it as anything other than a Datsun?

It just screams Datsun 510

Not at this point. Since the engine is running quite well, I plan on keeping the physical engine, but fixing it up as best as I can I.E. new carb, delta cam regrind, possibly some head-work, thermal coat the intake manifold, new alternator/starter/ignitionsystem/etc., remove the smog pump, all those goodies that I can actually do for this model of engine for actually not that much money

I've actually seen a few rally photos of the FF-1, and I am leaning that direction... Roll cage, gutted interior, race seats and four point harnesses, etc. I'm looking for other wheel options right now too.

Apparently it did win a couple rallys back in the day, although that was with the 1300G Sports model with the disc brakes, dual carbs, etc.
