Default Seicane 9 inch Android 7.1 Head Unit

Anyone have any experience with this head unit?

I'm wondering about overall quality.

I'm wondering if there is an adapter or way to splice in the OEM back up camera.

How's the sound? I'm really more interested in the mapping features, but I don't want the stereo to sound like complete ass.

Any other input would be helpful. Thank you.

Thanks I'll give that a watch.

He has a standard radio though, and I have the limited which has the navi and back up cam, etc.

I can't seem to get a straight answer out of the manufacturer.

I'd like to use my GPS 'shark tale' antenna, my OEM camera, and my OEM amplifier.

If anyone knows whether or not any or all of these is possible let me know.

Probably, but it would really help if you told us what model year your car is (you should add that info to your profile here, too). Also what is the model number printed on the front of your OEM head unit?

I need to split this into separate guides for cars with- and without the OEM harman/kardon amplifier, but this should get you started.

In many cases, Chinese vendors selling Android HUs like Seicane's will include "plug-and-play" harnesses that fit a Subaru's harnesses for power/speaker, SWCs, and AM/FM antenna, but they usually get a few things wrong that need to be tweaked (for example, they provide a Nissan antenna adapter instead of the correct Subaru type, and don't connect the HU's power antenna signal to the proper place to work in a Subaru). They also usually don't supply harnesses to retain your car's 3.5mm aux jack, USB socket, or OEM rear camera, but you can obtain the missing pieces from other vendors in the US (including me).

Your rooftop shark fin only contains the AM/FM and XM antennas. Your OEM GPS antenna is behind/above the instrument cluster.

That is my video. Thanks for sharing!

I have mixed feeling about this head unit. So far, some good and some bad but it is still better than the base radio.

Thank you for this info and suggestion. My model is FV642US.

I have the Harmon K. amplifier.

Tell me what I need I and how to order - you got my business assuming prices are in line.

Again, thanks for chiming in.

Can you elaborate?

Oh, you have a 2017? In that case, I don't have good news. You would also need to bypass or replace your h/k amp. See my post here (#9 in that thread). Also see my other posts and the discussion following that one.

I can still supply the harnesses you would need to install a new HU (and you would not be using any of the speaker wires there). My post #16 in the above thread lists harnesses you can use to connect to the factory speaker harnesses that are currently plugged into your h/k amp.

See my visitor message in my profile.

If you go with the Seicane or a similar Chinese HU, you'll need to see what harnesses they supply. That might take care of the power/speaker harness (except you won't use the speaker wires there), AM/FM antenna adapter, and possibly even the secondary 28-pin harness. But usually you would need to obtain additional parts on your own for aux, USB, and rear camera retention.

I guess you can ignore my email I just sent.

I don't care too much about sound, but don't want to hear static distortion either. I care more about being able to search, navigate, and view live traffic and news data than I do listening to loud music. I've had too many multi thousand dollar rattle your brains out builds in my cars. I rarely turn the radio on even.

I've moved that scene inside to dedicated theater space.

For those who have ditched the H/K amp how's the sound?
