Thank god the guy is a friend of mine, it's his sister's car. I told about what I was looking at and he found from his dad that a mechanic had "converted" it to 2wd.

So the search continues.

nah, plenty of compromises made to shoehorn that engine into the ZJ's engine bay. I hesitate to say a lot of power to be made, but rather... to be freed up from ridiculously small headers and exhaust :P

the 5.9 isn't a revver, nor a HP freak... but it'll make gobs of torque that only a good diesel would do better.

Really though, I gave up rock crawling almost 10 years ago.
I suppose if there are only a couple of rocks, that's an option. Driving through a trail chock full of boulders... you're going to get rock rash.

Either way, no rock crawling... no issue.

OME Lift + Adj trackbars + Discos + BL/MML showed up yesterday. Time to get the crappy skyjacker lift off and get something that will actually ride well.

I am very picky about tire balance.
Have you considered these then?

Centramatic wheel balancers

If I'm not mistaken Phenx is a dealer for them...

Not that it's really needed since they seem to be getting almost 2000 signatures a day but I wanted to help spread the word.

Well today is t-case swap day for the ZJ. So long 249, hello 242! Also going to replace the transmission pressure sensor and shift governor, along with the leaky front pinion seal.

Looking at getting a 2000 XJ with 120k miles for $2300 OBO. I'm gonna offer him $2000 cash and see if he bites.

Have any of you guys with 00-01 XJs experience problems with the 0331 head crack?

i say just wheel it anyway. ORV trespassing on military land adds a new layer of excitement and skill that only a trial under fire can give

Woooo!!!!

The DPG Ultimate kit seriously rides 3256598670x better than the Skyjacker lift it had before. It's like a whole new jeep!

Now to tune the bumpstops...does that length look correct?

Anti-rock is pretty far down on the list at this point.

Needs a matching rear spare (or at least matching size), rear bumper/tire carrier, gotta change the spark plugs, sliders, tummy tuck, etc etc. It never ends...

How are they flat spotting for you? My truck is about 2000+lbs more then yours and those exact tires never flat spotted for me. What PSI are you at?

Also the initial rought feeling is the knobs, not flat spotting ( i get a bit of "oh **** i have knobs" feel for the first couple of feet with them). Is that what you are feeling?

That's because you drive it every day. Mine can sit for a week at a time. I know that knob feeling ( ) but this feels like the tires are square. Feels like the wheels are unbalanced until about 5min of driving. At speed, it can shake pretty good through the wheel.

In other news, as good as the LED headlights are, they still have a major flaw:
