Default Power Steering question

I need to replace my high pressre power steering hose and have been looking at some options. I was wondering if any one on here has installed the Chase Bays power steering kit? Is it worth doing or a waste of $$?

Here is the link ... http://www.chasebays.com/product/sub...-subaru-wrxsti .

While that does look like a nice kit, I'd say save your money on the big fancy setup and just replace the OEM hose. However I strongly suggest replacing ALL the original hose clamps with the normal screw type while your in there. The clamps maybe strong enough not to seep fluid, but they can still suck air into the system. And I can guarantee you they will do after you start yanking on em.

I learned this from experience just last week...

My motor is not exactly stock and would rather do it right. I also have looked at the P&L line as well. I would rather spend a little extra if it is the better way to go.

My build is nothing crazy, but it def not stock. I like the idea of cleaning up the engine bay a little and using the -AN fittings. I was just curious if anyone had any experiance w/ the kit. I may just have to try it out.

Thanks for your input!

I have the P&L high pressure line and it has been on the car for about 2 years now without any problems whatsoever.

I can't find it now, but I do recall Crawford Performance saying that the rack to reservoir line, the one with the OEM foil heat shielding on it, should NOT be replaced with a braided stainless hose, as they had them pop under racing conditions, because of the heat of the turbo. That's probably why the Chase Bays kit uses a nylon hose, rather than a steel one. Still I would put some sort of shielding on there, just to be safe.

Oddly enough a search on google brought me to this post, as I have been looking at the Chase Bays kit myself. I need a powersteering cooler for my Q-Rack, so I figured I'd clean up some stuff and "upgrade".

But after a bit of digging around, I feel that the pressure line is the only one that warrants upgrading, and I think the Chase Bays or P&L both are the same quality part.

just my $0.02

Well I just purchased the Chase Bays kit. I post some pictures once it gets here. I figured this kit would clean up the engine bay while replacing all the related hoses.

All-in-all its a pretty nice kit. Quality is good. I originally received the kit and it just didn't work. I contacted customer service and found out they shipped me the wrong high pressure hose and fittings for the rack and pinion. I received a hose with two 90 degree ends when it should have had a 90 an a 45. The biggest issue i had was having customer service send the correct fittings. I ended up buying what i needed because they seemed lost when i told they what i needed, I even sent pictures. I was a little upset since they said they installed it on a customer's car they should know what fittings are needed. They also said that they didn't have the donor car there long enough, so there were no install instructions online either.

Once i found the fittings i needed for the rack and pinion everything went in smoothly. I would have made the return line a little longer so it could be routed further away from the up pipe, but what they sent worked. I also would have used a different mounting bracket for the reservoir. The one used in the kit is a universal mount so you have to fabricate a little, nothing major, but still could have done something that would have mounted where the stock reservoir went.

So, in all the kit looks nice and is a good quality kit. I would have made some minor adjustments if i had something to do with it but as is the kit works and is pretty easy to install.

just my .02 ...

I am looking for a bracket that can mount the oil cooler onto my '02 wrx. I have been looking on amazon and found universal brackets but i am worried if weather they will fit at all for my car or the oul cooler itself. Upon searching online i havent found anything yet. But if you find something, please let me know!
