Default Way to install STi TMIC on WRX with Samco I/C hose...

Spent an hour installing STI TMIC on WRX today. I will post a picture tomorrow.

If you want to install STI TMIC with Y pipe from WRX, you will encounter two problems.

1. Brackets will not align (on driver's side)
2. Turbo to IC hose is about 1" short.

I have found ways to resolve problem# 2 by using Samco I/C hose. In terms of length, it's about the same as stock pipings. However, it's more elastic and allows you to bend it about 1" to create perfect fit. Here is how you do it.

- When installing STi TMIC, turbo -> Y-hose must be connected FIRST. Otherwise you will encounter problem 2. Once you tightened turbo -> Y-hose clamp, next step is to connect I/C to intake hose. You will find it extremely difficult to make the hose fit due to tight space. One way to resolve this issue is by putting the I/C -> intake hose on the intake manifold side first. Once you tightened the clamp on intake side, then you can slowly make hose fit on the I/C side. You may need to use a screw driver as a lever.

Rest is self explanatory... I haven't found a solution for problem #1 yet without bending the bracket, but I found out that securing driver's side bracket is sufficient enough to secure the STi TMIC.

I just received a STi TMIC stage 2 map from PDX tuning today!

I can help install STi TMIC if you are local.

Why not just use the stock cast STi Y pipe with the Samco part number TCS209 hose kit? I just re-installed a USDM STi intercooler on my 05 WRX using this kit and the elbow was actually slightly too long on the IC side. I cut about 10 mm off the elbow and the IC practically installs itself.

It's for those who have stock TMIC and samco I/C hose... some people prefer not to use cast STi Y pipe including myself.

There are a few posts here documenting the install procedure and parts needed to make it fit perfectly.
