if you can get it without an ADM at the moment, that'd be a stellar deal. the car is a blast to drive.

realistically, if you don't plan on owning the car for that long (3-5 years) then no, you shouldn't pay an ADM, and you should wait.

if you have plans of long term ownership though, it becomes a bit more murky. someone who pays $5000 more than you over a 10 year period, that's $500 a year, and not a big deal, especially when you consider people are out there who swap cars like candy, if we want to talk about bad ways to spend money, that's worse than a ADM.

anyway, at the end of the day, if you have designs after the car, go check it out, if the lowest price they offer isn't as low as you want, then walk. it's still a rare opportunity to even have a chance at it, so see if you can get it for what you want.

Subarus being reliable is an antiquated myth to me just as are VWs not being reliable.

I'm curious how much supply is driving that. You can't find any sporty compact cars on the dealers lots anywhere except for the WRX. I live in the Phoenix area and I can't find GRCs, CTRs, S3s, Golf Rs, not even a damn MT BRZ/GT86 twin(but plenty of autos). Yet, all of the local Subaru dealerships have a buttload of WRXes on the lot. The dealership 10 minutes from my house is showing 24 of them in stock right now and it's been this way for months now.

That being said, I wonder how many people want something else but just end up defaulting to the WRX because it's what's available. I know I almost did that.

Seriously.

I'd still be driving my wife's old Mexican built 2008 Jetta as a beater if someone ******* hadn't run a red light and totaled it. My Mexican built 2017 GTI was bullet proof as well. I feel like the internet becomes an echo chamber where people just keep repeating the same nonsense because they've seen it enough times without any personal experience.

The dealer with the red Core and the $10k markup reached out to me again today to see if I was still interested. I guess no one has taken them up on the $10k markup yet, which makes me optimistic for the market as a whole. It seems like the market for first adopters willing to pay a king's ransom in ADM has dried up fairly quickly and I still haven't seen one in the wild yet.

Man. I typed up a paragraph to your "myth" of Subaru reliability to realize I was in a Toyota thread. BUT, your retailers in the area are moving them at a good rate YTD.

Those are what have been sold YTD or what they have in stock?

I was referencing Chandler in my previous post. I know they’re a larger dealer but they always seem to have an ungodly number of WRXes in stock and they do seem to move them, I wasn’t disputing that.

That was sold YTD as of that posting. People keep looking at inventory as some excuse as they are not selling.

Of which, sales as of this post have surpassed, by exactly 100 units, March 2021. Still many days of selling. 2290(last March) is the target. 1454 is the current number. If they continue with that average, they will do it. Then it will get interesting.

P.S. Chandler has 1 more out today.

They responded, they're trying to get me in there. I may go check it out just to see one in person.

Go and see it, almost every dealership other than maybe 2 in MA are selling at MSRP now. But the thing is, can you actually find one haha.

Do it. You're lucky - there are zero available around here and waiting lists are so long that local dealers have aren't taking any more reservations.

Interesting observations regarding WRX inventory. Unlike the other aforementioned options (GRC, CTR, Si, 86, etc), there are quite of few for sale in the Denver metro area, most of which are new stock. I hope they sell like hotcakes. Strong WRX sales could incentivize Toyota and Honda to try to grab a slice of that pie by increasing GRC/CTR productivity. The more likely scenario is that Toyota and Honda decide that sport compact market is so small that they can't justify the business case and cede the segment to Subaru.

the market is returning to normal slowly.

Here in texas you can get 5000 off MSRP for silverados and 0 % interest for 72 months. In 6 months that will probably 15000 off. Dealers have hundred of trucks on lots again. Car lots are filling back up... the ADM days are severely numbered. After we get into the full on recession and prices for everything keep rising, it will much harder to push 80k dollar silverados.

banks failing, the housing market has scrubbed more value than it did during the 'great recession' (and considering the CPI keeps going rampant, this is pretty big), plenty of layoffs happening in various sectors.

whatever is happening right now, I'd not exactly call it a return to normal.

I haven't gone in to see it yet, but the guy is sending me daily emails begging me to come in.

How awful is the markup on this thing that they're begging people to come in and see it when it's one of the most desired cars on the market right now? I straight out asked him what the markup is and he wouldn't tell me, just that they're pricing it "aggressively".

Yeah, right.

it sounds like it's not a convenient location to just go in and get told in person that the markup in out of reach.

you can always call in and hope you get sent to another sales rep and see if they'll spill the beans on the price before you go in.

I've got your double post right here, and yeah, I agree on the auto market getting closer to parity, especially in the volume segment.

although, 0% interest, and 5000 off a truck that's already 80k still doesn't at all sound appealing to me.

well trucks in general have been overpriced for the past 15 years. GM had 10k of profit on trucks in the early 2000's from what I read on GMinsider leaks.
It is criminal. But at 80k you are getting a really really nice trucks. IF you set your target at 65k, which is still outrageous, 5-10k off sticker brings them down to where mere mortals can afford them and still get some nice things like leather, and 4WD.

Tell him that you'll pay the markup as long as you can come in and close the deal on April 1st.

Apparently Camissa has an upcoming video comparing the GR Yaris to the GR Corolla, along with the Delta Integrale and even the new Prius... But the production was a bit of a **** show according to this podcast, so it should be interesting when it comes out
