![]() ![]() The skirts and fender vents are even bigger than on the rendering. I wonder if the rear quarter flares will be bigger too. |

Pricing, the G16 engine and GR4 AWD system are paid for, R&D wise, already. That was part of the homologation budget for GRY, and they’ve sold plenty production models of those. Corolla, existing car. This is like a 1M or something, parts bin car. Mix and mash of existing components, hardware, and chassis. It’s not going to cost what a Golf R does by any means. 37k maybe, with the diffs. They may offer a base, like the GRY, no diffs, for low 30k range, and the full Monty for high 30k range. No clue but I see a lot of people guessing, and being real pessimistic. Truth is always in the middle. |

It does sort of fit - why make it a widebody, with fancy brakes and 300 hp, and not bring the LSDs. |

![]() If it came around $37k loaded, I'd be interested. If it exceeds $44k, I'm out. M2C is still my radar car.

![]() This car is a level above the WRX and would be more of an STI competitor. The GR Yaris with the circuit pack was priced nearly the same as the Civic Type R in the UK. Corolla is a more expensive starting point than a Yaris so I would expect the price floor to be the Civic Type R and the ceiling being the Golf R.

But they could play nice with Subaru and not offer a WRX competitor and just go fully loaded as what would have been the STI. The way Toyota has been relatively secret and teasing really builds the anticipation. There haven't been many spy shots of this car. |

![]() I'll be amazed if this car starts at less than $39,450 (before destination).

Likely, especially in today's supply chain environment, I do see this as a single loaded model. As for a higher trim, I'm sure we'll see a GRMN Corolla but that will likely be limited production and not available here. |

![]() My first impression is that it is going to look a lot better than the new WRX. Price? Performance? We shall see what happens in those regards but if they can keep the price competitive this looks interesting. I think mid to high 30,000.00 range and they will have a hit on their hands. I have had no luck trying to get over the all the plastic on the new WRX, that bothers me more than anything else about the new car. I feel like with the new WRX I would have to buy one in dark grey to hide the plastic. If I like this car I might get in line, I don:t mind waiting a while either.

![]() People are forgetting it's a relatively small car. It's 14" shorter than the new WRX or new Si. It's also not a low volume homologation model - it's part of the huge volume Corolla lineup. It's not going to be in the $40k range, max $39k with Circuit Pack.

![]() One can hope. But the Golf R is also part of a high volume golf lineup, even if the lower models are no longer available here.

Corolla hatch wheelbase - 103.9 WRX sedan wheelbase - 105.2 Worth noting that the Corolla Sedan is ~2" shorter than the WRX while having a ~1" longer wheelbase than the WRX; again way less front overhang, but with similar rear overhang. The current Corolla hatch is longer than my wifes 2017 Corolla hatch (1.5" longer wheelbase 2" longer overall), so while it's "small" by todays standards, it's still bigger than it's predecessor.
