![]() I'd have gone CE if it had the Morizo wheels, or wheels that looked like them at that $45k price point. The only things it had that I actually wanted were the seats and the GR-FOUR painted on the intercooler.
Like others here I felt the hood/roof/spoiler sort of made the look of the car initially. I soured on that look pretty quickly though after the initial shock of the reveal wore off. It's too much. From there I was neutral at best on the look of the car in general core or CE and that hasn't changed much but I definitely prefer the cleaner look of the core now. I like that it is quietly ugly instead of loudly ugly, doesn't bring attention to its homely figure. Same with the color, nothing to show off so black does a good job at keeping its ugliness under the radar. |

![]() I appreciate the feedback from actual owners. I'm trying to stay in the loop about the GRC since I have no clue if I'll try to buy one next year or not. My Impreza has 130k and I never like keeping high mileage cars. This one holds the record. There really isn't anything else exciting to upgrade to besides the GRC, but I really enjoy having zero car payments.
samagon, what color is your GRC? I used to really want the CE in Heavy Metal, but I don't know what color wheels look good with that color car. Gray is too blah. Gold is too flashy. Black makes cars look heavy. Silver can be nice. Bronze might be okay. I also debated getting the car fully wrapped in the Blue Flame from the current Corolla hatchback. Love that color. ![]() A manual Miata will always be more fun, and they'll be around, preserved by old nutjobs, until the Earth's heat death (even after there's no dinosaurs left to burn). Motorcycles kinda ruin any sense of rawness and excitement from moderately quick cars. My 3-cylinder has 2 wheels, no turbos, and will scare the crap out of me and one brave passenger... just like the Morizo.
Eventually someone will make affordable EV sportscars that are more engaging than the current crop of isolation-mobiles... it's just a matter of time. I see no doom and gloom or need to buy into the latest hype for an understeering hopped-up econocar. |

I might just end up here, waiting for the next good EV sporty car to replace my leaf with. That was the original intent when I got rid of my R... I was just thinking that the major manufacturers were going to be quicker with creating sporty EV's... |

![]() Word of warning.. the stock pads will turn any non-black wheel into a black wheel in short order. I've learned to love the look. All part of my black car ownership strategy of not giving a s***
The PS4's remain on the stock wheels for now and I intend to run them that way this spring, at least at first. But I will probably swap them around. I love the silver. Black GRC needs some contrast. |

![]() Are those Enkei TS10s?
Dustin Williams on YT just got a white GRC Core and I appreciate his enthusiasm for what the aftermarket will produce. Not having the CE hood wasn't a dealbreaker, especially because of the potential for aftermarket hoods in the coming year. I'm definitely looking forward to the bottom line aero kits. I've always been a sucker for those. I'd also have more aggressive wheel fitment. I'm a poser, so something like 19x9 +30 would look proper on the GRC. Actually ya'll should probably hope I don't get a GRC cuz I'd rice it out. I'm an FK8 Type R fanboi. ![]() |

![]() Actually the wheel I really wanted to put on this was Rota Garagiste 19x9 +34. I figured out they're a rep of the Forgeline GA1R so I would not feel the remotest shame for rocking them. GA1R are like $2k per wheel ![]() I hope you get one of these and throw the book at it! |

![]() Nice wheel specs! I was looking at those Rota wheels too. I think I've settled on the Rota KB-R 19x9.5 +40. Now I'm just looking at replica center cap specs with 3D manufacturer logos, like "GR" and the Toyota logo. I got a set of 3D "STI" logo stickers for black center caps on my Impreza and it looks OEM even though the wheels are aftermarket as well. I get compliments all the time.
Having been in the game for a while I'm legitimately making sure that if I do get a GRC CE that everything I want will be installed on Day 1. Including whatever might affect the performance, like overheating clutch packs. Speaking of which, Just Driven just put out a new video and they're tackling solutions for the clutch pack overheating. Interesting bit of info at the end where he talks about tracking the GRC on stock tires that constantly slip are a big contributor to the overheating issue. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk |

![]() I have to laugh at 'constant slip' though. I flogged the car a couple times keeping an eye out for any ill behavior attributable to open diffs as I do not have performance pack. Snow tires, the twistiest backroads I've got all covered in grit and salt. Perfect conditions for getting it to push and all it did was blow my socks off. It's difficult to imagine better cornering behavior. Last resort was to go in too hot and I couldn't get there, was way too fast for comfort. Point being, it takes quite a lot to get this thing to slip even with open diffs. Exceeding its limits is way out of reach for me on public roads. |

![]() For giggles, I reached out to one of the local dealers about ordering a GRC. Their response: No. They already have 40+ people on a waiting list. Looks like I need to go out of state if I want one.
