Default Turbo break in...

Ok so I installed TECs hybridized VF22 and a Vishnu up-pipe last night. I have like 30miles on it. Do I have to really break it in for 500 miles? Crap thats long. It'll take me a month to drive that!
I did run it up to about 10psi for a brief second already this morning.

You guys should know, that my exhaust smoked a lot for like 30min mostly idling. Can't say why, EJ20WRXs did the same, don't know if it was as much though since he rolled out when dont.

Ken,

I've never heard of a requirement to run-in a new turbo..

Having said that, your factory turbo does benefit from you running in your engine (whether it is needed or not..).

The only precaution I'd take is to check carefully that the water and oil supply and return lines are ok, and that you don't have any gas leaks anywhere.

Cheers,

Alex

Oh yeah, no leaks. I replaced the clamps with the bolt locking type clamp except the oil return line. And new gaskets. Took me about 6hrs total to complete. New oil, new coolant (bottle of water wetter added in). I think I will take a nice ride today, and romp tomorrow.
