I would hope that we would see the tS or PP sooner than later.. but my guess is at least 3-5 years for the tS based on the 1st gen. Hopefully we only have to wait ~2 years for a PP. I don't mind waiting a year or two for any early adopter issues to get worked out.

Saw the 2022 BRZ at Wicked Big Meet, in red. It looks pretty good in person. The red is VERY vibrant. The engine sounds slightly better, but still a bit anemic.

Same here. I like the looks and would love to get one. Although, not in red.

The exhaust sounded better than I would have guessed, but it needs just a wee bit more volume. That's just from hearing it rev in place. Maybe under load my opinion will change some.

An aftermarket exhaust should change that

Will be harder to get the BRZ to make much more power if you want it, basically need to go FI as opposed to just an accessport + tune. Based on what we know so far though, the BRZ seems like a better choice this time around, at least until they fix the styling on the WRX.

Do we know if the stock exhaust sound is still tuned by Yamaha?

Was it ever tuned by Yamaha?

There was a constant rumor during development that Yamaha was involved in tuning the heads on the FA20.. yet the most anyone can find to back that up is some footnotes for the D-4S fuel injection papers that credit Denso and Yamaha for consulting work.

It's been soooo long, I might be remembering something wrong. I remember something that Toyota always had Yamaha tune the exhausts on their performance cars. And that they did on the twins.

Lots of Toyota's cars have had engines co-developed/designed/partially built by Yamaha. The LFA for one. If there is a "G" in the second portion of the engine code, that designates Yamaha lent a hand with it. 2JZ-GTE (Supra MkIV), 2ZZ-GE (Celica GTS/Corolla XRS/Matrix XRS, also the same motor that Lotus put in the Elise), 3S-GTE (MR2 Turbo and Celica Alltrac/GT-4), 4-AGE (of AE86 fame). Also the V8 that they've used in pretty much all the F-models, I don't recall the engine code but it's something like 2UR-GE.

Aside from the actual engineering/design/manufacturing aspects of it, if you think of all those motors, the other big thing that they have in common is that IMO they all range from sounding "pretty good" to "****ing amazing". Not surprising that Yamaha's motors sound good acoustically given what else they make.

IMO, they made the greatest "production" engine in the sportbike landscape in the last 20 years, the crossplane 4. I own one. Same firing order as a 90 degree V4 but in an inline 4 configuration. Brick sheet reliable too. So pleased with that bike, I bought a spare engine, spare bodywork, and will have until I'm in the grave. I own 3 Yamaha vehicles. Two 2 wheelers and a supercharged PWC. They are my favorite Japanese company. Thank you Masao Furusawa!

I'm always on the lookout for a beat Celica GT-S turning up in some hole in the wall used car lot. Or an early Matrix XRS. Give it the Tavarish treatment over a winter, have something ridiculously fun (and amazing sounding!) to play with for dirt cheap.

I mean, yeah. When it comes to sound, they should be, eh? What is their emblem. How did they start. I always thought it was cool how they got into motor vehicle production. Off topic. Sorry.

Once we're past the First Drive Review period and journalists start getting these for extended testing and comparos... I definitely suspect this thing is going to sweep a *lot* of Car of the Year awards and shootouts.

Well.. probably the first time I've gone through a configurator and didn't want to upgrade anything from the base model. Floor mats are about the only thing they're selling that I want. Red paint.

I'd like to see some better color options in the future. Green, yellow, brown, for the exterior and some kind of flashy (red?) or classy (tan) interior colors with some special editions.

I feel like the car is finally worth the asking price.. but it took the whole market to go crazy for it to make sense.

I guess the question is how difficult will it be to purchase one in the current market for MSRP without ADM.

I too saw it at WBM, and I have to say, I'm quite smitten with it...I found myself walking back over to it multiple times throughout the day. They brought the exact spec I want, "base" trim in Ignition Red.
Never got to see the interior, but I asked one of the Subaru PR folks with the black STI shirts how the base cloth seats felt, since he was about the same size as me, and he said they felt good overall.
I liked my '13 BRZ, but there were several things about it that dimmed my enthusiasm for it sometimes, namely the torque dip, around-town driving, and the worst stereo I've ever heard. Seems like they addressed the vast majority of the first-gen's shortcomings. I'm excited to drive it!

I'm hoping my dealer's willing to order some so I can drive one. They hate BRZs. Can't sell em..

We have polar opposite tastes. Tan interior? Brown car, yellow?
