![]() I’ve installed probably a dozen aftermarket head units over the years, but tonight didn’t go as planned.
It is a new Kenwood head unit I put in my 2021 base (4 speaker). I unhooked the battery to remove the factory radio and install the Kenwood. After connecting the harness (I did NOT add the module for steering wheel controls), I hooked up the battery to test the HU. I reinstalled everything and put the dash together. (I did unplug the connectors on the new radio while the battery was hooked up to install the brackets, radio was off at the time). Now, the following items DO NOT work: -Power locks (neither button nor remote) -Any console backlighting, including the dash (everything is dark) -Door ajar lighting Is this likely a fuse? If so, anyone know off hand which fuse I should check? Could this be related to not having some of the features hooked up to the new radio? (Seems unlikely...) Also, in the crutchfield notes, it says the starlink must remain connected for front speakers to work. Is this the module that sits toward the top of the factory HU? If so, there was no plug on the crutchfield harness, BUT... the front speakers worked even though it wasn’t plugged in. |

![]() Figured it out. On the Base 4 speaker trim, the "starlink" module doesn't feed the front speakers, but it does control other components of the car (locks and lighting). So even though the stereo worked fine, the module needed to be removed from the factory head unit and plugged in / zip tied behind the dash.
