![]() I would not be blaming the bearings and look at the clearances and along the journals. As we know the HX ACL bearings give an extra 0.001" oil clearance. This may be required depending on your required oil pressure output. If you have used King Bearings and they have spun, you need to ask why this happened and not just blame the bearings because they have failed. The bearings are designed to fail first to protect the crank and rod surfaces.

![]() Just bought ACL Bearing 5M8309H AND 4B8296H-STD to rebuild my WRX 2.0 Engine with stock piston and shaft.
I came to know about King bearing after purchase, these are manufactured in June 2016, lets hope they have corrected the clearance issue with this new ones. ![]() |

![]() I just built an EJ255 with forged Manley H beam rods- my stock clearance ACL's had zero clearance- I mean none!
0.0003 -0.0003 -0.0001 -0.0003 Rod Journal sizes 2.0468 2.0468 2.0468 2.0468 I bought the extra oil clearance and eked out these after switching around a bunch of shells. 0.0019 0.0018 0.0016 0.0018 I'm nervous about that 0.0016. The main bearings were 1 0.0013 2 0.0016 3 0.0015 4 0.0017 5 0.0013 and that's with pretty uniform journal diameters. 2.3621 2.3623 2.3622 2.3623 2.3623 Long story short- I wish I would have chosen King bearings.... I've been nervous about the ACL's since I put em in. All of these measurements I took five times per part and averaged them- I remeasured anything that was more than a half thousandths different. I checked with plastigauge as well to make sure I didn't make any math errors- they checked out. Except on the stock rod bearing size - I didn't even try.
