![]() On my way in to work today, my Accord suddenly lost power and I coasted to a stop in a turn lane. I turned it off then back on again which fixed the problem.
So I fixed my computer-controlled car by rebooting it which is ironically dumb because I work in IT support. ![]() |

![]() This particular genius is the owner's cousin. He's a drunken idiot, he's been moved around from department to department, has angrily quit multiple times after sending insane emails in what I imagine is a deep drunken stupor. He's only been cordial with me, but he's sort of a problem child.

![]() Work gripes.
Employer rolled out MS Teams last year and immediately started the pressure campaign to "start using it for everything!" We were trying to figure out what the big push was, and ultimately shut most of it down when we pointed out the level of service we got from MS didn't meet the requirements for data protection. But also recently realized employer paid for all the analytics MS does to help the employer identify "poor performers" based on their Teams use. So, the extra money they spent to get the analytics really should have been spent on getting the higher service tier so we would actually be able to use it. Nice. Other work gripe...on a Teams meeting today. About 10 people on, everyone has cams on. Two Directors on the call. Someone was just typing away...loudly....for several minutes. One Director is speaking. He finally stops and invites whoever is typing to promptly disconnect. I glance over and see there's only 4 people who aren't muted, and on is the Director speaking. So I start watching more closely. After a minute the typing starts back up. Yep...it was the other Director on the call. Again, someone stops mid sentence to ask them to please stop. The typing stops immediately and the Director who had been typing makes this face like "Not Me!" and holds up her hands. Then she had the audacity to start asking if it was a couple of other people who had been typing typing (both of whom had to get off mute to respond "no"). For the rest of the meeting you could occasionally hear these ninja keystrokes sporadically. Most everyone is on mute unless speaking, and half of us had our hands visible. Every so often when I'd hear the typing noises, I'd glance over and see her upper arm move just slightly. Soooooo busted. |

The last part of your gripe; at least army people are smart enough to keep cameras and mics off unless you're the one talking. Related gripe; commanders that want to waste bandwidth having everyone's camera on for no reason other than to make them do it. |

Its not that Teams can't be secure enough (as you point out, it can) but rather our IT folks felt that the day to day biz of the company wasn't sensitive enough to warrant that level of data protection. So they didn't sign up for that tier with MS. We do government classified stuff, and they just told us not to use Teams for that stuff. Then we pointed out a huge slew of examples of typical company stuff that would not be good if it got into the hands of a competitor....Basically making it just as critical to protect as our military stuff. |

I recently tried O'Keeffe's Working Hands Hand cream. Works ok for hands. Gold Bond Healing works better. O'Keeffe's did miracles for my dry cracked feet though. I couldnt sleep due to how dry and scratchy they were. Now they are baby soft. |

![]() Not much of a gripe, but had my STI rebuilt from hitting a deer and they get everything right except for the drivers side headlight. They got a wrx halogen replacement unit. How in the hell do you get the wrong headlight. The color of the light is completely different and maybe the error message saying headlights are disabled on the dash isn't enough. I mean you had to aim the thing and yet you still didn't notice.
It's all good though. They're ordering a replacement and it'll get fixed. |
