Hey guys, I recently bought a '98 Forester 5spd here overseas(jdm) and trying to figure some things out. Currently has a turbo EJ20-something. The VIN plate says EJ20J which was an NA motor so I can find from searching. I believe the motor was swapped as a whole at some point and not just a turbo thrown on. The motor in it is DOHC, with the old style MAF that bolts to the airbox. spark plug wires on the intake mani. I cant find any numbers other than the EJ20 on top, gotta do some extreme cleaning.

The ECU, from what I have found, is what i believe to be the original for the car. I didnt think that this ECU would work right with a turbo? maybe this car is an original turbo model? heres ECU details. Ill try to get a good pic of the ECU, cant right now.

Yahoo auctions tells me that's a 97/98 SF5 5 speed EJ20G (turbo) ECU.

Turbo Foresters are VERY common, so it could be the original one. Do you have a picture of the chassis tag?
