![]() Hey all
Haven’t been on the forum in quite some time. Had stage 2 WRX back in ‘05 and have moved on to the porsche GT cars. Currently have a GT4 and a GT3RS in order. I’m looking into a mainly track car and the BRX TS has peaked my interest. I’ve driven the standard Toyota version and found it enjoyable. Any issues with these on track? What are the weak points? This car will have much stickier tires and aggressive alignment for now. Likely may downsize to run more grippier tires. Likely 20+ track days a year.

![]() It's just a BRZ PP with some more aero and chassis stiffening. I have only autocrossed mine, but I love every single thing about it. I just wish it came with a front camera like the JDM/AUDM cars do. Afraid of hitting a curb when parking.

![]() The brz is the greatest in the world. Infact ill trade you for the gt4 (trading for gt3rs would just be unreasonable).
Honestly if you can afford and gt3rs and gt4 why the hell would you buy a brz to track? You are not doing it correctly at this point. Get your ass out there in the new cars. |

This is like a BRZ owner getting a $2k miata and track prepping it: if you wreck it, you're not that badly hurt financially. So, while he's smart for not wanting to risk his six figure Porsches on the track, he figures a car that is fun to drive and a less than third of the price of a base model 911 turbo would be fine. OP, the main issue with BRZs on the track is oil & coolant temp. Track conditions easily exceed the cooling ability of the stock system. Oil coolers and an upgraded radiator do wonders for this, along with an oil temp gauge. There's also the torque dip issue that is easily solved with a catless header w/ ecutek tune to take advantage of the reduced restriction once you've got the headers on. After that, with a good dyno or e-tune, you'll find the car has really woken up without exceeding the original specs of the car. So a tS + about $2k additional work is a fantastically fun track and AutoX car. |
