![]() Hey, I have a 2016 wrx sti with a pioneer 4500nex I've been trying to get the aswc-1 working with. Yesterday we spliced following these instructions https://metradealer.com/files/aswc/ASWC-1_INST_959.pdf
However it doesnt seem to recognize the controls. It never flashes solid green and at the end it flashes red/green slowly. I updated the firmware afterwards, but It only went from 4.18 to 4.19, so I don't know if that would help much. Does anyone have any tips, or methods to help debug this problem? Thanks

![]() Update incase anyone reaches this thread from their own search.
I managed to get my steering wheel controls working. First, I missed the part in the instructions where you had to wire steering wheel ground to chasis ground, to the aswc ground. It doesn't make sense why this is needed, but it might be to pick up the initial pulse from the resistance based controls during programming. Once I did that, the programming succeeded, however none of the buttons worked. I checked the resistances and it was all perfect. At this point I was frustrated so I ordered maestro sw. The maestro unit was much easier to wire and worked first try. I read buttons not working was common issue people had with installs. Overall I'm not impressed with metra products. The kit was cheap and ugly as well and it broke in the mail, so I ended up getting the scosche kit instead. I also recommend getting the auto harness house 28pin connector. The extra room makes splicing a breeze. TLDR: don't buy metra if you can help it. |
