![]() I have a phase 1 22t block that I plan to put into my 04 WRX sedan, I am curious if I should use the heads off of my stock ej205 or I could use some 251 heads with Delta 1500 cams that's have been port and polished, I've heard the 251 heads will require modification and some wiring to make them work where as the 205 heads should work fine, also what head gasket should I be using for the 251 heads? There's a ton of info on using the 205s but can't seem to find much on the 251/ 22t hybrid, also I'm curious what injectors I should be getting to support 380-400hp? Thank you!

![]() Hi,
Not my specialty, but the HG should match the block in most cases - for either of your heads. Running the EJ22T (graphite?) is the easiest, but I'd look into getting a MLS-type for longevity. The phase II/2 EJ222 ('99-'01) might be an option or may be too thin? Supposedly Cometic can custom-make them if the coolant/oil passages don't line up. Double-check your DOHC intake manifold (IM) fits those SoHC heads, too. You'll need some aftermarket injectors for anything over about 300hp, so look on here for best options. Probably pick up a used set in the Classifieds. |

![]() You should read around a bit more, if you have an 04 WRX then sohc heads will not work with the ECU in the car, just keep 205 heads on it. Any particular reason you want to use the 22T block? Theres almost no upside over a 205 block to be honest. And your injectors will entirely depend on the turbo you use, these days everyone just runs ID1000s or equivalent.

If I went back and did it again I'd just go with a 2.5 block. But I found my 22T filled with water under a tarp and went for it lol. I've had about 8 or 9 of them over the years haha. Sold most of them to some nutballs in the UK. ![]() |

![]() I like EJ22T's as well. Slap some real heads on and enjoy!
Got some relevant info here just in case. https://www.rs25.com/threads/if-your...efully.220993/ |
