how do i change the ashtray light on my 06 wrx?

Is it a part of the shifter console? I have one of those in my garage from an 07. I'll see if I can find it. Is it broken or something? If I do find it, you can have it for the cost to ship.

no its not broken i just want to swap to led

1. buy a number 74 (double check this) bulb in whatever color you want. Get the widest view angle available.

2. Pull shifter trim and then console trim. Unscrew a few screws that hold the lighter in place.

3. swap bulbs

4. reinstall everything

No screws involved, literally just pull up on the silver trim around the shifter and once you pull up and it snaps free, pull back towards back of car. On the right side of the lighter, you will see two wires going to a small bulb in a socket, twist the bulb socket and remove from housing, then pull the bulb out. I like the 74 tower wide angle one from superbrightLEDS, I did mine in red recently. Same bulb fits in your key ring and instrument cluster lights, if you’re interested
