Default Rough idle, wonít rev out while driving

Context: 03 wrx wagon, 135k miles, up pipe+turbo back, intake, accessport, DW200 fuel pump, protune by SSM in Schaumburg Illinois, pretty stock and factory power train. I recently did a clutch, flywheel, rear main seal, valve cover gaskets, and one bank of fuel injector o rings. On NGK 2667 plugs, the step colders, BRK7EIX or something like that.

Allright. I know this is something that comes up a lot and thereís a million other forums, but no one seems to have the issues Iím having after what I did. So I parked the car on Christmas to do valve cover gaskets and fuel injector o rings on the passenger side bank because they were leaking. While I was doing that my clutch kit arrived. So I got everything put back together, everything was normal until I started it up. (Today, I know itís a long time, i was waiting on parts for a hot minute) itís having a semi rough idle, but while driving it wonít rev past 3-4K in first, 2500 ish in 2nd, and like 2k in 3rd, didnít get the chance to go through the other gears. When you hit said RMPís it just kinda stutters like itís hitting the rev limiter and the car shakes really badly and things sound like theyíre cutting out. I cleaned the MAF, and it helped a little, but itís still not running right and stuttering. I was able to work on it a little today but still didnít really get anywhere. No CELís either. Thank you in advance.

Have you checked all you vac lines? Sounds like it's in limp mode.

Thatís what I was thinking too, and thereís a slight chirp when I open the throttle, but I canít imagine what vacuum lines I would have been dealing with other than PCV lines

Because it's tight in there it's easy to think they are seated properly but might not be. Just go back through and make sure they are all the way on and the clamps are set properly. Also look for missing clamps. Check the vac line going to the brake booster as well just in case.

The other aspect is it could be a vac line for the turbo or inlet. If you haven't replaced them then they could be breaking as they become brittle and should be replaced every 5-7 years depending on the climate you live in. I also noticed you didn't lost a turbo inlet in your mod list. That could be tearing and cause a similar effect. Even if you didn't remove certain items it doesn't mean they aren't damaged due to age and it just happens to be a coincidence
