No I'm not, they are already made for the monte carlo ss race car body, it just happened to be a perfect fit on my car.
Here's where you can get it... http://www.arbodies.com/abc-bodies/a...s/grillscreens The one below the one I got is a grill that you can have a custom engraving done. I thought about getting that and getting STi engraved on it but it didn't come in black and I like the design of the one I got better. Last edited by farmboss; 03-02-2012 at 02:12 PM. |

First I would like to say I take zero credit for this idea. I got the idea from a member on here and used the same clock and this thread on iwsti as a bit of a guide line. http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-inst...ml#post3488384
Now, for my project. I had a STRI X-line oil pressure gauge that didn't read right and just wasn't functioning properly. I also hated not having a clock and thought about how to make the stock clock fit into that gauge many times, but it was just so big. So I purchased this digital clock off of ebay, as the other member had done, and got to work. The gauge I started with. I couldn't peel the edge back so I used a cut off wheel and cut the back and front apart. This was the result. The cut off wheel ended up ruining the gauge face that I planned to use though. It also left an uneven edge on the back of the gauge glass but a quick once over on the fine wheel bench grinder cleaned that right up. Now I needed a new gauge face to mount the clock in since I ruined the original with the cut off wheel. I needed something strong and sturdy but fairly easy to cut with a razor blade. The solution... a used oil jug. Recycling is the best! I used the gauge front glass to mark what I needed and then cut it out and used the fine wheel bench grinder again and some sand paper to clean it up and make it a close to perfect circle. Next I marked and cut out the hole for the clock. Some test fitting and trimming was required. I used plastidip to paint the new face black and give it a bit of texture. Then I used some 5 minute epoxy to secure the clock to the face and then the glass to that. Next I used some hot glue to affix it to my ati pod. I used the strongest hot glue I could find. It seems cheap but it has held my other gauges in for years and it is reversible with a little heat when you want to remove the gauges from the pod. Also, I didn't reuse the back housing of the gauge as it was kind of beat up from the cut off wheel and there was really no need for it. Lined up with the other gauges you can't even tell there is no back to it. Finally I wired it into the stock clock harness. It looks like it belongs for the most part and is pretty clean, as I wanted. The clock displays bright red numbers but the camera makes it looks dim and uneven. Most importantly I can now see what time it is with a quick glance instead of digging for my phone. Hope you guys enjoyed and found this useful. |

i installed a back up camera for my kenwood, took out the lock and put it there. I never use the lock to get into the trunk and this seemed like a good place.
and i removed the clock and replaced it with my ipod, i used a silicone watch band to mount it. works great and i can control it with my head unit so its mostly just for show. |

I purchased it separately on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/180745783663...84.m1439.l2649
And the hole isn't round, when you take the lock out there are a couple tabs that need to be grounded down but it was quick and easy with a dremel. |

Never really saw the purpose of the middle "sun visor" so I removed it, custom made a bracket to bolt the radar detector to, and hard wired it in to turn off/on with the key. Its hidden behind my tint so it can't be seen from the outside but still works perfectly fine.
Custom made light bar, that bolts to my core support, and also has bolts that run through the license plate holes to secure it to the bumper as well. I was running 4 KC lights, but the glass lenses always got broke out from all of the rocks that get used up here on the roads in the winter. So they all got replaced with 4 Hella 35W HID lights, with plastic covers over the glass lenses. Holy hell what an upgrade!! Also have HID bulbs in the factory fog lights, and wired in to stay on no matter what as long as the parking lights are on. Having 8 lights on with the high beams on sure does light up the road!! |

It stops the map light from reflecting off the rear view mirror into your eyes if you're driving at night and your passenger has to look at something. Took me a while to figure out but that's what it's for.

Guess I don't have to worry about that, being as how I have to be the passenger.....(lost my license 2 months ago, have a while to go until I get it back..) But before all of that mess, I can't say I've ever really had a passenger use the map lights much. Not enough to bother me anyways. And my radar detector would always fall off of the windshield in the winter months. That, and I hated the big ugly cord laying down my dash. Sooo, where it's mounted now works great, and looks a lot better. |

I wanted rear deck speakers
why? -the rear door speakers are completely useless -debating removing my subs full time (sub box is exactly 50lb + weight of the amp, capacitor, hardware, 1/0 gauge wiring in the trunk) so i made it happen. cut out mdf board as a spacer/mount (this wasnt final - trimmed more for 3rd brake light/rounded those edges mounted to stock rear deck and glassed over trim excess, cut holes, and test fit add suede install final weight: 8.6 lb (without speakers), say each speaker itself is 5 lbs thats 18.6 lb total Last edited by todeswalzer; 03-21-2012 at 07:28 PM. |

Thanks guys
Btw the speakers are 3-way Polk audio mm691s I have Polk db6501 components in the front doors and the sound stage is now absolutely phenomenal. Not sure if the mm series has speakers that fit the doors (too deep). Maybe I'll play with the door cards at a later date. They dont really need to be changed but i like to keep things equal. For now I'll just keep it as is. I've also been adding some sound deadening to the car so well see if that will to satisfy my ears enough to forget the speakers are mismatched |

I suppose, but there's really no way without taking up cargo space, which is why I took out my sub.
I don't mean to be rude, but there are dozens of DIY threads if you would search. |
